Description
For fans of best-selling World War II fiction like Sarah's Key and The Nightingale comes an illuminating tale of courage, sacrifice, and survival, about two couples whose lives are ravaged by Hitler's mad war yet eventually redeemed through the fate of one little girl.
Seemingly overnight, the German blitzkrieg of Warsaw in 1939 turns its streets to a war zone and shatters the life of each citizen - Polish, Jewish, or otherwise. Sophie Kumiega, a British bride working in the city's library, awaits news of her husband, Janek, recently deployed with the Polish Air Force. Though Sophie is determined that she and the baby in her womb will stay safe, the days ahead will draw her into the plight of those around her, compelling her to help, whatever the danger.
Rosa and Itzhak Dunovich never imagined they would welcome their longed-for first child in the Jewish ghetto, or that they would let anything tear their family apart. But as daily atrocities intensify, Rosa soon faces a terrifying reality: to save their daughter's life, she must send her into hiding. Her only hope of finding her after the war - if any of them survive - is a medallion she cuts in half and places around her neck.
Inspired by true events of Poland's darkest days and brightest heroes, The Medallion paints a stunning portrait of war and its aftermath, daring us to believe that when all seems lost, God can make a way forward.

Lest We Forget
The Medallion is a story that I won’t soon forget. True events inspired the author to write this book, as she explains at the end of the story. The Medallion is a tale of war, before, during and after. It is also a story of courage, sacrifice and love. The author relates the story through two couples torn apart in war torn Poland. For me the book started slowly but soon swept me into the lives of Sophie, Rosa and Itzhak. Several times throughout the book I was brought to tears. Stina Nielsen’s narration is well done, with the exception of her British accent. The Medallion is a credit well spent!

Great narration, sad story.
Being set in WWII, I knew it would be sad and depressing and that was indeed the case, as well as gory in parts. For sure not any laughs. Good history, and part of the story of one person in particular is based on actual facts the author discovered in research. Overall a good listen, and makes me realize we need to be praying this won't happen again.

Beautiful story!!
This was a wonderful book! I took a chance on this novel simply because it was recommended to me based on my other purchases in the kindle store. I’m very happy I chose to use one of my credits on this book because it had everything! Love, drama, history, heartbreak, faith, spirituality, etc! Also, the narration was very nice and easy to listen to. I finished it over a weekend! The story was so wonderful that I found it hard to put down. Try it; you won’t be sorry!

Wonderful and heart breaking
We will never know how anyone can be so heartless. How can anyone shoot innocent people just because somebody else tells them to. Little children that were so innocent were shot just to get rid of them. And how can anyone say it never happened when there is proof. Some are still living that were eye witnesses. May God have mercy on their souls.

The Medallion
I love stories woven around historys truths . This nightmarish erra has given birth to an awareness , written around peoples lives and struggles in the real world . What we will do for our neighbors out of love to help each other thrive , not just survive in the face of evil gives me renewed faith in the peoples who inhabit our world . The research Caty did for this book gave credence to this story and Stina Nielson as usual brought the characters to life in a way only she can !

A masterpiece
I have read many novels about world war 2 and the treatment of the Jews but this one really captures the essence of the horrors but also the goodness of mankind. A novel about the struggle for redemption. I recommend it to everyone
