Good not Great

Very enjoyable easy read. Not quite as good as Books 1-3 though. Narration is superb as always.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Perfect combination of everything Irina Shapiro excels in! Not too heart-wrenching, plenty of mystery, romance and history all combined together to make it just right. Ready for Book 4... I would love a supernatural-thriller angle on Book 5, but either way I'll be waiting for it's release.

so good! can't wait for the next one in the series

I had started listening to another book by another author and just couldn't get interested in it. When this book came out on audible I immediately switched and am so glad I did. i was immediately engaged in the story and before I knew it had reached the end. the characters, story and narrator are great! I can't wait for the next one in the series!

I do enjoy this series

I have enjoyed ALL of the books in the series and this one did not disappoint. Love the present day story of Nicole and Kyle, with the mix of her historical book unfolding throughout. Hopeful and excited to read the next installment.

Least favorite so far

I found that both storylines were not as compelling as previous books and the main character of the past story was not likable. But my big problem was all of the graphic content with 12 and 14 year old girls. Portrayal of girls as mature women does not sit right with me. I understand that was common in that time period, but as Nicole’s friends and family love to remind her, you’re writing a work of fiction. If it’s not 100% historically accurate, that’s ok. Not sure I’ll read another one, if one is released.

The worst of this series

I have really enjoyed this series – – until this book. Too much discussion of sexual violence against 12 and 14 year olds and a not as likable heroine in the past story. The present story is not as compelling as in the other books, either, in part because of too many lectures and excess sermonizing about indie publishing. Really hoping that the next in the series is back to form or that will be the end of the series for me.

BEST ONE YET!

I love all the Nicole Rayburn historical mysteries. But this 4th book is my most favorite one so far. The plots and twists just gets juicier and juicier as the chapters progress. About to listen to another book by Irina Shapiro. ☺️

This was exquisite writing. beautiful stories in both the past and the present and how they entertains us so very clever … the characters are so believable and so very human and courageous .
Bravo!!!
And enjoy the whole series ( maybe minus book 2)

I loved this recording

The narrator was wonderful. Great story and this series was just what I was looking for. A great pace, interesting characters and history.
