    Description

The Cadian Gate is broken, and the Imperium is riven in two. The might of the Traitor Legions, kept shackled for millennia behind walls of iron and sorcery, has been unleashed on a darkening galaxy. Among those seeking vengeance on the Corpse Emperor’s faltering realm are the Death Guard, once proud crusaders of the Legiones Astartes, now debased creatures of terror and contagion.

Mighty warbands carve bloody paths through the void, answering their lord primarch’s call to war. And yet for all their dread might in arms, there is no escape from the vicious legacies of the past, ones that will pursue them from the ruined daemon-worlds of the Eye of Terror and out into the smouldering wastes of the Imperium Nihilus.

Nurgle more than just a plague God

After reading/listening to this book I’m a full convert to Grandfather Nurgle’s way of life. When you realize how bad the people in the empire are treated it’s just best to go with Nurgle’s philosophy

    Great Insight

This story really shines insight into the Death Guard and the inter-communication with other traitor legions. Also really shows the other side of an imperial vs. chaos battle.

The Death Guard walk the galaxy once more

This audiobook details the story of a Death Guard warband, The Lords of Silence. The characters (mostly villains!) are incredibly fleshed out. Each has their own agenda and personality. Many iconic characters are included in the story, such as Mortarion and Typhus in their 10,000 year old rotting forms. A fantastic narrative and incredible voice acting make the Lords of Silence a very fun book! I'm a fan of the Death Guard, and I enjoyed every minute of the experience.

Docking a star for one reason alone...

The volume levels need increased so bad it isn't funny. Such a great story so well writen and preformed, but you can't hear much of it while doing anything. As an aside... AUDIBLE GIVE US VOLUME BOOST!

    This will be...Horrible!

Lovely narration and insightful perspective on the Grandfather's chosen sons. Vivid and wretched depictions of filth and stagnation. Would highly recommend to any true heretic.

    Finally.

I am biased when it comes to Death Guard as I play them in tabletop, but this was exactly what I wanted. I have waited some time for a Death guard novel and was not dissapointed. The characters had that slow methodical cadence to them that I expect from the sons of the Rotten Angel. The combat was satisfiying, and the insights from the characters were interesting. I was pleased with the descriptions, which were gross but not overly so. I can only speak as someone who is already a big fan, but I found the book very enjoyable. Chris Wraight wrote a detailed delve into the depressed, disgusting world of the Death Guard, and John Banks gave yet another terrific performance.

    Disgusting and full of character

A must read for any Death Guard fan! Chris Wraight takes the characterizations he cut his teeth on from Dark Imperium and turns it up to 11. The characters are disgusting, evil, petty killers but you can’t help but want to know their stories. As a giant Death Guard fan this novel was an utter treat to listen to!

    Peerless

There are not enough good things to say about this book. The quality of the writing is unbelievable. The way Wraight matches the tone of the writing with the subject matter is masterful. The story is phenomenal and the characters are of the best in any book I have ever read 40k, 30k or otherwise. Vorx!!! Before reading, I liked DG just fine because of the good job Swallow has done with them. After this book, I am truly fascinated by DG.

Performancewise, we all know if it’s Keeble, Longworth, or Banks reading, the reading is going to be gold, but Banks outdoes himself here. Excellent voice work for perfectly written characters and a reading pace that really gives the book a DG feel (in a good way).

The only drawback is you will want more and it does not seem like there is a current plan to do more. Hopefully, some of these guys show up in Warhawk.

One of my fav 40k Books

I have read or listened to just about every 40k/Fantasy book BL has released. Some have been a downright chore and some a real pleasure, this was undeniably a pleasurable listen.

Lords of Silence is very well written. Vorx (Leader of the Lords of silence) is now one of my favorite characters from the setting. He is not the typical two-dimensional wet fart of a nurgle lord we’re usually served up in the fiction. He has nuance and is far more terrifying because of it.
Wraight really gives the “modern” death guard something interesting and cool with the inclusion of these characters. I’d recommend it to ANY fan of the 40k verse.

    Okay book for my taste

Generally I find the topic with a traitor legion cool. John Banks is doing a really good job but I find the story sometimes too long, too much explanation for my taste. The story itseis wuite cool

Death Guards in their purest (filthiest) Form.

Lots of lore, interesting characters and a story filled with details, about one of the most interesting of traitor legions. Still hope for a sequel.

    Only for Fans

I want to start by saying that if you are a Nurgle/Death guard fan you will enjoy this regardless, the story is very slow going the characters are very boring and low effort, Vox is this typical death guard lord that shares the same level of Charisma as all others.

If you do manage to get past the Boredom, the last few chapters are enjoyable.

    Die Pestilenz triumpfiert!

super Hörbuch, was die inneren Verfahrensweisen der death legion erklährt und kurz nach dem riss spielt!
