Continuing the story begun in The Hobbit, this is the first part of Tolkien’s epic masterpiece, The Lord of the Rings.

Sauron, the Dark Lord, has gathered to him all the Rings of Power – the means by which he intends to rule Middle-earth. All he lacks in his plans for dominion is the One Ring – the ring that rules them all – which has fallen into the hands of the hobbit, Bilbo Baggins.

In a sleepy village in the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task, as his elderly cousin Bilbo entrusts the Ring to his care. Frodo must leave his home and make a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ring and foil the Dark Lord in his evil purpose.

    Le plus pertinent
    J’aime beaucoup la narration dans cette version, je la préfère à celle d’Andy Serkis. Mais je n’aime vraiment pas la lecture théâtrale, et j’ai choisi cette version car elle devait être "neutre", mais le narrateur surjoue sur les dialogues et c’est assez insupportable… Cela dit, c’est le seul bémol.

    Très bien, mais…

    A great audio book to have along with the masterpiece this book is. Rob Inglis definitely did a great job on this book!

    This reader is one of my all time favorites. It’s a whole new experience listening to him tell the story as he sings all the songs and does all the different character voices beautifully. People commented on his breathing but honestly I never even noticed it until I read the other comments. Rob also did the a couple of the Earthsea audiobooks by Ursula K. LeGuin and they’re amazing. Great storyteller. This is a super old recording so the audio quality isn’t perfect but it doesn’t matter to me personally. big fan of Rob!

    Great narration with a lot of effort put into the voices of the different characters. Even some of the songs are softly sang. Tolkien’s text has not aged at all. I am french, and i could understand most of the english used there, thanks to the great articulation of the reader. Most thanks.
