Fleet Marine Sergeant Alan Ashe thought his Cyborg life was over after his last assignment. After all, he helped Humanity win the war against the Azincor. How about a little time off to savor the moment?

Now, thanks to the wonders of modern technology, Alan is a brain-in-a-module, a module that can been placed into just about any body in the galaxy, both Human and alien. This makes him the perfect undercover operative . . . to a point. The brain may be willing, but not always the body. It takes a lot more to run an alien body than just hitching a ride inside a cranium.
That's why Alan can only be on site for a short time before his shortcomings become apparent, and then it's a mad dash off planet and back to good ol' Mother Earth. Never a dull moment, right?
Now, Alan Ashe is the Ultimate Cyborg, the most valuable piece of machinery in the Human arsenal. Whether he wants to be or not.
