This quiet town in Maine becomes disturbed by a missing priest who is eventually found deadFather Thomas, let out of prison early, returns to his former parish when the new priest has a heart attack.
The parish is divided between forgiveness and resentment about his return. These feeling are based his hit and run which severely injured a member of the community and resulted in his prison sentence.
Nancy is quiet but very fond of Father Thomas and discreetly supports his return.
Ron Whitlow is aggravated. He starts a group to have Father Thomas removed, has an outburst during mass and also goes to see the bishop.
Then Father Thomas disappears for weeks until his body is found by a hunter.
Detective James Jason, also known as JJ, is assigned to the case. He meticulously investigates Ron Whitlow but can find no concrete evidence that he was involved in Father Thomas death.
Nancy and JJ discuss the case and she subtly begins her own investigation.
As JJ becomes fonder of Nancy and respects her introspective instincts. He follows up when Nancy points him to a covert witness. Will this help solve the case?
