On Moonvine Ridge, a clan of civets protects the forest's oldest night paths by tending scent-lanterns made from bark, fruit oil, and moonvine resin. These quiet signals guide small animals around cliffs, floods, and sleeping predators. When a band of lynxes arrives and claims the ridge, they begin erasing the scent-lanterns and replacing them with claw marks that only the strongest can follow.
Young civet Nira, careful mapkeeper Tovan, bold Kiri, and Elder Suma must defend their home without becoming as cruel as the invaders. Their struggle leads through broken bridges, false trails, a season of bitter fog, and a final choice between revenge and restoration. This continuous fable explores courage, shared knowledge, restraint, and the truth that a community survives not by hiding every path, but by teaching everyone how to read the forest together.
