Description
Neil Josten is out of time. He knew when he came to PSU he wouldn't survive the year, but with his death right around the corner he's got more reasons than ever to live.
Befriending the Foxes was inadvisable. Kissing one is unthinkable. Neil should know better than to get involved with anyone this close to the end, but Andrew's never been the easiest person to walk away from. If they both say it doesn't mean anything, maybe Neil won't regret losing it, but the one person Neil can't lie to is himself.
He's got promises to keep and a team to get to championships if he can just outrun Riko a little longer, but Riko's not the only monster in Neil's life. The truth might get them all killed - or be Neil's one shot at getting out of this alive.

Satisfying Ending for this Dark Tale
Well that is it. It felt satisfying, but I still could have had more. There was definitely a HFN, which was a great thing, as this series was dark and terrifying at times and felt hopeless. But by like 80% there was so much hope that it was wonderful. I was wrecked when Neil was inevitably hurt again, it just about crushed me. Matt's dad helped bring some comic relief to this though further in the story, which was nice, as most of the time you were just trying to cope with what was happening and trying to root for all the Foxes to end up happy. I was so happy we actually got to meet Erik in person, as Nicky is still one of my favorite characters. I really enjoyed Aaron's storyline and loved when he finally got a backbone, or really just stopped being so stubborn. I loved Aaron and Andrew's hurdles and how they decided to tackle them. Kevin was also the best he had been the whole series and we got to see him finally stand on his own out of the shadows of the Ravens. I think Riko got what he deserved, but it definitely felt a bit anticlimactic, but again it was tough to read. Then you have the bombshells that just kept coming, and wow that made the story fly by. Finally you have Neil who was just such an unrelenting force through this whole series. He was inspiring to all the Foxes. And him and Andrew were so sweet. I adored that part of the story. Also, Alexander Cendese on narration finished this installment off perfectly. He is still one of my favorite narrators. Again, wish we got a short of warm and fuzees, but it would not be the Foxes...

My favorite series
I want to start by saying I do not rewatch TV shows, reread books or relisten to them on principle. Even my favorites, that being said this messy found family trauma filled book with a silly made up sport is by far my favorite series I have ever read/listened to. This is my 5th time rereading it and it won’t be my last. I love this series with a fierce devotion my millennial ass didn’t even devote to Harry Potter. 17/10 despite the times words are said incorrectly or backwards or stumbled over. I would put quotes from this book on my tombstone. The only thing I could ever wish for out of this series is more. Please more. Forever more. Evermore.

I thought I didn’t like sports as a genre.
But I do. Maybe just this one. Wish the narrator was better at distinguishing the team members voices. But it didn’t diminish my enjoyment much.

Incredible
I have cried over, laughed with, and loved every single one of these characters! I love the theme of found family and this book series embodies that concept fully!!

My favourite book series
I have listened through all books six times now, I love it. And the narrator is really good, a lot better now than the first book. He has developed the voices to match the characters.
I need 10 more of these.

I've been reading and rereading for 10 months now.
I loved the narrator, the story, all of it. I now have brain rot. The inflections of the narrator gives so much life to each character. This trilogy is insanity but the characters dig a hole into your heart that you can't let go of.

Still amazing 👏🏼
This trilogy is by far one of my favorites and Im already itching to reread (or relisten) it. Aside from the third book having so much going on and it feeling too rushed for it all, I really enjoyed it. Wish there was more to Neil and Andrew’s and the Foxes stories. 😩 Sad to see it end.

wunderbar, bis auf kleine Produktionsdetails
Ich liebe die Serie und habe die Hörbücher bereits so oft gehört, dass ich schon gar nicht mehr merke, dass mir die Stimme vom Sprecher an einigen Stellen und in einigen Charakter-Stimmlagen gegen den Strich geht.
Die Produktion dieses Hörbuchs ist zwar nicht perfekt, da z.B sich die Kapitelbezeichnungen am Ende wiederholen und daher nicht zu dem Originalwerk passen (also nicht wundern) und dass, zumindest an einer Stelle, der vorgelesene Text nicht mit dem Original übereinstimmt (Stelle: Neil wird Matt's Dad vorgestellt, letztes Kapitel vorm Epilog, bei 20min). Aber im großen und ganzen bin ich sehr froh darüber dieses Hörbuch und die anderen beiden dazugehörigen Teile erworben zu haben, da ich so immer Mal wieder in die Serie eintauchen kann, wenn die Nostalgie mich überwältigt und / oder ich gerade keine Gelegenheit habe das Buch in die Hand zu nehmen.

I love the series, am there are critical aspects.
Jesus, what a ride.
First of all, I LOVE the books.
Yes, even though I'm only giving three stars, I've grown to love the Foxes team.
I liked the focus on Exy and also on specific character developments. It was great to learn more about all the team members and watch Andrew grow.
However, I continue to miss the naming and coming to terms with the traumas ( even if only in the afterword).
Also, you don't play a fucking blatant Exy game with a tattoo that is not even 24 hours old.
Many things happened too quickly and too abruptly. The coming to terms with Neil's fundamental situation, for example, and also the handling of Riko. There is a lack of sensitivity.
I don't agree with a lot of it and am extremely critical of the series and yet ... I am in love and could not put the books aside.
If you approach the series without a big moral compass, you can have fun. But you also have to overlook a few things - or rather a lot of things.

Klasse
Diese Reihe kann ich immer wieder hören und lesen, sie wird nicht langweilig. Der Sprecher hat die Geschichte gut in Szene gesetzt und die einzelnen Stimmungen und Charaktere gut umgesetzt und dargestellt.

Mitreißend.
Die beste Buchreihe überhaupt. Unglaublich tiefgründige Figuren, tolle Storyline. Darüberhinaus erleben die Charaktere eine solche Entwicklung und der Leser lernt etwas in vielen verschiedenen Bereichen. Die Zitate sind absolut einprägsam und motivierend.
Alles in Einem,
Eine Reise die ich gerne wieder und wieder machen will.
