Flint was having a rough year. A dead-end job, a failed marriage, a lost custody battle. In short, life hadn't been going his way. His luck had to change soon, and surely evil space monsters, gladiatorial battles, vampires, sentient warships, and out-of-control nanotechnology wouldn't make his life harder, right? Flint goes from earthbound dullard to intergalactic privateer through painful, frightening, and all too often out-of-control events for which he is completely unprepared.
Forcibly removed from earth by giant lizard monsters as a potential snack and sold into the gladiatorial arenas only to be caught up in a web of intergalactic politics, theft and piracy all while the known galaxies walk the knife edge of falling into all-out war. To survive, all it will take is to survive the arenas, escape his imprisonment, find an ancient ship on a hostile moon where literally everything is trying to kill him. Once he finds the ship, he just has to steal it, find a crew, and live the life of a pirate. What could go wrong?
