Description

The four cocreators of the Try Guys, one of the Internet’s most popular and viral sensations, deliver their first audiobook - an inspirational self-improvement guide that teaches you that the path to success is littered with humiliating detours, embarrassing offenses, and unexpected failures.

Best friends and social media stars Eugene, Keith, Ned, and Zach are admired for their curiosity, humor, bravado, and fearlessness. But that self-confidence came from their willingness to take big risks - being open to try something new or unusual, even if they failed spectacularly in the attempt. To be our best selves, we have to challenge ourselves. In dedicating ourselves to embracing fear, foolishness, and embarrassment, we can learn to recognize the ways in which we often hold ourselves back.

In The Hidden Power of F*cking Up, they swap some of their best stories and offer encouragement and hard advice to help you become a Try Guy, too. Whether they’re experiencing what it’s like to be in labor with a pain-simulation machine, marching on the streets of Los Angeles in heels, learning to dance ballet (with a professional dancer and some talented tots), replicating the ancient Olympics, or trying to bake bread without a recipe - their hilarious escapades are accented by their “throw caution to the wind” attitudes, encouraging listeners to become their best flawed and f--ked up selves.

Throughout, Eugene, Keith, Ned, and Zach open the doors to the past, showing their fans how four nerdy, timid, self-conscious boys grew up into four super-hot mega-babes secure in their insecurities. They offer key advice on what to do when faced with impending failure - and how to push through to the other side - provide anecdotes about their experiences curating their sure-fail philosophy and introduce each of their new challenges to the listeners for the first time (Ned’s impossible challenges as a first-time father and Keith’s goal of curbing his fried chicken habit by going vegan).

Inspiring

Amazing book and performance, absolutly enjoyable till the end of course. Only minor think is that in the Audio book their is the possibility to have a pdf attached, would have been nice to see what you've been talking about sometimes. Congrats for all the hard work 👏🎉

Hope Instilling 💕

5/5 🌟 If you're afraid to try, start by trying this book!

Thanks to all 4 Try Guys, I feel so much more hopeful. At the age of 25, learning how to be an adult has been so furiously terrifying 😭!
I can't express enough how uplifting these hilarious guys are. I love every second of this.

AMAZING! INSPIRATIONAL!

The guys are so genuine in their storytelling and give advice without being too pushy & relate to listeners/readers by sharing their personal experiences. I will definitely be buying the hard copy and reading it again for myself!

Loved this book!

This book was so fun to listen to, and was so much more than I originally anticipated. These guys really made an effort to try to do some very difficult things and didn't sugar coat the results.

Too scattered and no real continuity.

Keith's chapter on health just made me angry. That's more my issue than anything else because I have chronic illnesses that make healthy living a huge challenge for me.

Ned's chapter was disappointing. Too much filler and weirdness.

Zach's chapter was interesting.

Eugene's chapter was probably the best of them all, though I imagine it was hard to write and keep his family anonymous.

The biggest thing that bothered me is that a chapter would start featuring a specific Try Guy and then it would be an aside to some other Try Guy's quasi-related story as like a sidebar before going back to the main point of the chapter, which may work layout wise in a print book, but really does not work in an audio book and leaves the listener feeling lost and scattered. This bothered me most during Eugene's family chapter. The outtakes at the end were unnecessary and were kind of loud.

As a long-time Try Guy's fan I was actually really disappointed by this. Maybe the print book is better.

Great book for Try Guys Fans

Loved the book, although as an avid audio book listener it was hard to get through the introduction with everyone talking at the same time. It got into a better flow afterwards though and was excellent.

An Autobiographical Life Raft

So glad I opted for the audiobook. I would consider this audiobook/book making Try, a success. The stories are personal and well recorded, with a genuine feel I would expect from these guys. Something in each story hit me right in the feels. As a creative twenty-something, newly wedded, first time big-city resident, with a beautifully complicated family, this book could't have come into my life at a better time. Thank you guys for filling my first week of commuting with friendly voices that say "We are here, we see you trying, and its going to be ok."

Surprised to hear Ariel

- she'd be great as narrator.

The stories fit together nicely and the narration is great. More personal and wholesome than I expected
