Description

When Special Agent Will Robie gets the call to make his first visit home since he was a teenager, it's because his father, the local judge, has been arrested for murdering a man who came before him in court. The small, remote Mississippi town hasn't changed, and its residents remember Robie as a wild sports star and girl magnet. He left a lot of hearts broken and a lot of people angry.

Will and his father, Dan, are estranged, and his mother left years ago. When he visits Dan in jail, he finds that time hasn't healed old wounds. There's too much bad blood between the men, and although Will feels no good will come of staying around, he is persuaded to confront his demons by fellow agent Jessica Reel.

But then another murder changes everything, and stone-cold killer Robie will finally have to come to grips with his toughest assignment of all. His family.

Hard to Believe

The story was very convoluted and hard to believe. It needed a 10 minutes story from the bad guy to explain what happened.

plot is “okay”, but you won’t miss a major thing when not reading it

the story is a “look back” in Robie’s history - the plot is interestingly written with quite a few turns and side tracks - but for the “overall story of Will Robie an Jessica Reel” it does not seem to play a major role... “popcorn literature” :-)
Consistently great though are the two speakers!!

Decent, but definitely the weakest so far

A narrator makes a huge difference and this book suffered because of the new male narrator. A new voice in a series is always hard to adjust to, but the last guy was so good that this one, although decent, makes the book fall. The story isn't as strong as the last ones . . . I think the peek has been reached. But it's still a good book, if you've no high expectations. ;-)

guted Buch, schöner turn of events

Am Ende zwar etwas übertrieben, aber geht es nicht immer um die Extreme? Freue mich auf die weiteren Bücher aus dieser Reihe.

Gripping book spoilt!

When I Read a book I want to be able to Focus on the Text, so I don't Play Music in the background. If I want a Soundtrack and sound effects I can go to the Cinema! This is an Audio BOOK, not a Film! The background Music and, especially, the sound effects, was completely unnecessary, intrusive and distracting. If I had known about this beforehand I would definitely NOT have bought this audio BOOK!
