    Description

The F*ck It Diet is not only hilarious, it is scientifically and medically sound. A must read for any chronic dieter.” (Christiane Northrup, MD, New York Times best-selling author of Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom

From comedian and ex-diet junkie Caroline Dooner, an inspirational guide that will help you stop dieting, reboot your relationship with food, and regain your personal power.

    Dieting doesn't work.

Not long term. In fact, our bodies are hardwired against it. But each time our diets fail, instead of considering that maybe our ridiculously low-carb diet is the problem, we wonder what’s wrong with us. Why can’t we stick to our simple plan of grapefruit and tuna fish? Why are we so hungry? What is wrong with us?

We berate ourselves for being lazy and weak, double down on our belief that losing weight is the key to our everlasting happiness, and resolve to do better tomorrow. But it’s time we called a spade a spade: Constantly trying to eat the smallest amount possible is a miserable way to live, and it isn’t even working. So f--k eating like that.

In The F*ck It Diet, Caroline Dooner tackles the inherent flaws of dieting and diet culture and offers listeners a counterintuitively simple path to healing their physical, emotional, and mental relationship with food. What’s the secret anti-diet? Eat. Whatever you want. Honor your appetite and listen to your hunger. Trust that your body knows what it is doing. Oh, and don’t forget to rest, breathe, and be kind to yourself while you’re at it.

Once you get yourself out of survival mode, it will become easier and easier to eat what your body really needs - a healthier relationship with food ultimately leads to a healthier you.

An ex-yo-yo dieter herself, Dooner knows how terrifying it can be to break free of the vicious cycle, but with her signature sharp humor and compassion, she shows listeners that a sustainable, easy relationship with food is possible.

Irreverent and empowering, The F*ck It Diet is call to arms for anyone who feels guilt or pain over food, weight, or their body. It’s time to give up the shame and start thriving. Welcome to the f--k it diet. Let’s eat.

I cannot believe this actually got published

This book is terrible. In summary, eat however you want, feel good about being overweight because it's actually healthier, eating poorly is perfectly fine, no junk food is unhealthy, so be happy at whatever weight you wind up being. Although I agree you should feel good about yourself no matter what weight you are, and that yo-yo dieting is bad, absolutely nothing else in this book makes sense. Utterly terrible.

    Extremely helpful.

I’ve struggled a lot with an eating disorder for about ten years now. I was always looking at all these different diets trying to lose weight and starving myself, only to slip up and then binge. I’d feel terrible about myself then began the vicious cycle again and again and AGAIN. This book brought out a lot of experiences and emotions and helped me see my relationship with food and eating in a new light. I’m not miraculously healed, but this book really inspired me to take a much needed step in the right direction. She provides a lot of examples and “have you ever..?” And I could relate to all of it. Knowing that there’s people out there who have felt the same and gotten through it really helps. For so long, I felt like a failure because the diets that worked for what seems like everyone in this world didn’t work for me. This book helped me realize there’s more to food than diets. Truly an inspirational book and will definitely be rereading. Truly thankful to have come across this book!!

Last Diet Book You'll Ever Need to Read

Being a 73 year old woman who has been on diets since I was six, I can say categorically that this is the sanest, funniest, factual, sensible and entertainingly humorous book I have ever encountered on the subject of food. I have been on every diet there is and read almost every book. Let me save you the trouble, this is the only book any of us will ever need. This book sets the madness of diet culture on its end in the most charming and powerful way. Caroline's logic and presentation lays out a way of living and eating that makes inarguable sense. I am on my second listen because there is so much wisdom and have downloaded the book to my kindle to do the exercises. Reading it just once changed my relationship to food and continues to do so every day. I am now happy, not obsessed or stressed over food because this book has shown me the only way to live. Thank you Caroline from the bottom of my heart!

    This is crazy

I really liked this book, but I have to admit everything she says about dieting sounds CRAZY! I kept thinking the whole time "that is just impossible".... The author is the narrator and she is extremely good, she made the book fast and fun to listen...but again, I can't see myself doing this diet.

    Well-written and excellently narrated!

A wonderful anti-diet manifesto narrated with the beautiful tones of the author herself! This was a true pleasure to listen to, as the author's expressive voice accurately conveys the love, humor, and biting wit of the book itself. I also appreciated a few small writing changes made specifically for the audible version ie "it may make sense for you to listen to this book twice" instead of "read this book twice," as it showed an attention to detail that I appreciate!

This book is a wonderful feminist and anti-'Big Diet' narrative that delves into freedom of personal choice and all the other issues tied to dieting. I would highly recommend it.

    Great book!

I ordered this book at the recommendation of my Psychologist. I have had a lengthy history of body dysmorphia, disordered eating and yo-yo dieting. This book is 100% dead on. It’s funny and so helpful. I initially just bought the audio book to listen to while driving but I am now getting the paper copy to go through again as it has such valuable information. Definitely recommend to anyone!!

    Must read/listen!

I have the physical book and the audiobook, both are so helpful, I’ve gone back to specific passages time and time again and used them to help others understand my past with disordered eating. This is the most freeing and most healthy relationship with food and my body I’ve ever had, could not recommend enough!

“Eat what you want and settle for the outcome”

I enjoyed the sassy and snarky aspect on Dieting...but this book didn’t really do much for me. I think, perhaps, I’m not her preferred clientele. The book had a harsh aspect on living a “fit life”. Most people “diet” in order to sustain or compliment working out. There are absolutely items that need to go into your body to recover and to make progress. This book only states that you should eat what you want and learn to live with the body you end up it. Although I can understand the message she is sending to a point, I think it needs to be marketed differently.

    Lifechanging.

This book has opened my eyes. I‘m looking so different now at food and my body and basicly my life. I always thought it was right to feel bad about the way I look, what I eat. Now I know: there‘s a different way. A way out of this circle.
I also recommend following the journies of Stephanie Buttermore and Kayle Rose on Youtoube and Instagram.

    this has changed my life

for a long time after several eating disorders, I tried to "just eat normal". But guess what, it didnt work. I was obsessed with food and thought I will be my whole life. When I read this book, everything became clearer and clearer. I'm on the fuck it diet since 1, 5 years now and I am so calm about my eating that I nearly dont think about food at all. I am eating until I'm full, and thats sometimes salad, sometimes ice cream, sometimes rice and vegetables and sometimes pizza. I never thought I'd be that person who forgets that there is ice cream in the fridge for weeks!!! thank you caroline, I can finally move on to more important things than weight and looks ❤

Totally in love with this book 😍

This book has been so helpful!

At the beginning the author sets a disclaimer, that this book isn’t for someone suffering from an ED , but it’s honestly so damn helpful in the context of eating disorder recovery. She dismantles dietculture and makes you understand, how you got where you are. She definitely had the biggest impact on my (!all in!) recovery. If you really want to commit in recovery, this book could be very helpful to you.

It not only changed me relationship to food, but also to myself and my life.

The chapter I liked the most was the one about the Minnesota starvation project at the beginning. May this book help many many more ☺️

    Thank you Caroline ❤️
