    The Event is a tequila-laden night in New York City. The actual story Whitney Dineen brilliantly spins is of the unexpected adventures of Emmie Frothingham when she returns to her gossipy home town a certain number of months after The Event, clueless as to the paternity of the new baby she brings with her.

    I listened to the audio version of this book. It's such a pleasure when a narrator, Tiffany Morgan here, perfectly has the measure of the characters she is reading,

    the narrator does a great job, but unfortunately the story is not delivering... The plot twist can be guessed 15 minutes in, and the author overuse of the word "demand"really threw me off. I also struggled to like the main female character, as she tends to be judgemental and a bit caricatural.
