Some of these stories seem to be early work, and are a little trite and fascile compared with Project Hail Mary, a recent novel by the author, for which I'd give 6 stars if I could.

A collection of short stories that have a feel of "tales of the unexpected". Worth discovering

The stories all have the same structure (set up followed by plot twist; it’s not what you thought!) but because of the repetition, the reveal loses some of its punch the fourth or fifth time around.

All the texts are surprising and well-written. Some are funny, or weird, others very moving. The author has no problems incarnating the most varied narrators convincingly, though they have quite different personnalities. The acting is flawless and the voices pleasant to listen to. I wish the author wrote more short stories like these and compiled them in a bigger book. I finished this book with the wish to read many more short stories from him.
