    Some of these stories seem to be early work, and are a little trite and fascile compared with Project Hail Mary, a recent novel by the author, for which I'd give 6 stars if I could.

    The stories all have the same structure (set up followed by plot twist; it’s not what you thought!) but because of the repetition, the reveal loses some of its punch the fourth or fifth time around.
