A glittering world on the brink of change.
At Chevron, an imposing English country estate, the privileged world of the Edwardian aristocracy appears secure: lavish parties, elaborate dinners, family traditions, and a strict code of social expectations. But beneath the polished surface, a younger generation is beginning to question everything they have inherited.
Sebastian, the young heir to Chevron, is caught between the life expected of him and a growing
desire for freedom. As he encounters people and ideas beyond the sheltered world of his upbringing, the contradictions of Edwardian society become impossible to ignore. Love, desire, class, ambition, and scandal collide as an old order begins to lose its grip.
Elegant, witty, and quietly rebellious, The Edwardians is both a captivating coming-of-age story and a vivid portrait of a society approaching the end of an era.
Vita Sackville-West (1892–1962) was an English writer, poet, and gardener whose work encompassed novels, poetry, biography, and journalism. Born into the aristocratic world she later portrayed in The Edwardians, she brought an intimate understanding of privilege, convention, and social change to her fiction. She is also remembered for her celebrated garden at Sissinghurst and her influential literary relationship with Virginia Woolf.
