Of course, if it wasn't for my big mouth I wouldn't be in this situation to begin with.
I was there when the ceasefire terms were presented by the dragons. They demanded eight women a year as tribute.
My ex-husband, 'The General,' argued that we should never surrender. I said he was an idiot, and that we were losing. His response was that if I was so in favor, I should be the first to volunteer.
Now I'm stuck on the Dragon Isles with a dragon who doesn't want me. He's just pretending, so he can pay off his debts.
His former business partners have their eyes set on a whole lot more gold than before, however, and if they don't get it, they're going to take something else: namely me.
But when he realizes he's about to lose me, I discover that 'my' dragon wasn't completely faking it after all…
