Description
A world made by the Eight Creators on which to play out their games of passion and power, Paradise is a sprawling, diverse, often brutal place. Men and women live on Paradise, as do dogs, cats, ferrets, goats, and horses. But dinosaurs predominate: wildlife, monsters, beasts of burden - and of war. Colossal plant eaters like Brachiosaurus; terrifying meat eaters like Allosaurus; and the most feared of all, Tyrannosaurus rex. Giant lizards swim warm seas. Birds (some with teeth) share the sky with flying reptiles that range in size from bat-sized insectivores to majestic and deadly dragons.
Thus we are plunged into Victor Milán's splendidly weird world of The Dinosaur Lords, a place that for all purposes mirrors 14th-century Europe with its dynastic rivalries, religious wars, and byzantine politics...except the weapons of choice are dinosaurs. Where vast armies of dinosaur-mounted knights engage in battle. During the course of one of these epic battles, the enigmatic mercenary Dinosaur Lord Karyl Bogomirsky is defeated through betrayal and left for dead. He wakes, naked, wounded, partially amnesiac - and hunted. And embarks upon a journey that will shake his world.

Exhibitionist disappointment.
I went out on a limb because, well... Medieval battles on dinosaurback. Potentially some absurd levels of awesome there, right?
Wrong. The reader is presented with a depraved, hedonist society with far more political drama than dinosaur action; usually squabbles over bizarre, polytheistic belief systems that are never well-explained, and supernatural forces that are often mentioned in fear but hardly ever showcased (let alone explained), and the few Dino battles you see don't make up for it.
Overly graphic depictions of rape and protagonists with loose sexual inhibitions (one of the heroes is bisexual and polyamorous) clearly for the purpose of being seen as "edgy" and "progressive" mark it as being written by an author self-indulging their vision of a utopian society, plagued by puritan devils (who he went out of his way, literally, to depict as disgustingly unhygienic).
For a book with the basic outline of "Medieval Dino World," it took itself far, far too seriously.

Would not recommend
Took a chance on it based on the idea of dinosaurs and fantasy knights being mixed together. I thought that sounded pretty exciting. Turns out you can make that concept very boring.
The writing style is far too dry and dull. The narrator is just terrible. He brings nothing to the reading. It feels impossible concentrate on and follow what's happening with his lifeless performance.
I was only able to get a few chapters in before I couldn't take it any more. Thankfully I only spent an audible credit on this and not money.

Like the plot
Plot is really fun. Story is good. The narrator has a very mechanical/robotic voice. Just took something out of it for me.

Bad performance
The concept of this book intrigued me, but I could not finish listening to it because it sounded like a speak and spell was reading it to me. This is the only audiobook I have not been able to finish.

Don't waste your time!
I wonder how much George Martin was paid for his review on the cover because this is nothing like Game of Thrones or Jurassic Park.
The idea of putting knights on dinosaurs is a cool idea, but this book fell flat in virtually every area. The author wrote in a choppy style that seemed like each sentence was a bullet point in a presentation rather than telling a story. Then in the few occasions where the story did start to flow the narrator remained choppy.
The narrator was not good, or even average, and made the story even worse than it was.
The author exaggerated some medieval stereotypes, all noble males over 30 were fat slobs who were unwilling to try and think of another way of doing anything other than trampling stuff with their dinos. He tried to undo others like trying empower women but only with a group of scantily clad prissy teenage girls.
Then there were the main male characters who were walking contradictions, a "great" leader who can't lead, a rebel who has to be prodded to follow the plan "or we will tell your mom," and the commoner warrior who hates nobles with a passion yet is upset when he kills one.
Often things were not explained, like the religion, but most often everything is rushed, even most of the battles. Virtually the only things that were described in detail were the dinosaurs at the beginning of every chapter and what people, especially the teenage girls, were wearing. The dinosaurs were relegated to being like cars or weapons in other stories.

I thought this was narrated by a AI at first
The narrator was very robotic and flat most of the time. Every laugh was the same and most of the men sounded the same. Wasn't worth the credit and I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to be rooting for and I'm not invested in the characters. A very full story that started with a lot of promise.

A lot like game of thrones
This story is written in the same style as the game of thrones books. The dinosaurs didn't play as big of a part as I thought, they were treated like horses in any other story. I wasn't a fan but if you liked the game of thrones books you will like this book.

Dinosaurs, Warfare, and Political Intrigue
The story was driven well into a realm of easy imagery and likeable characters.

Not good
Thought the idea of mixing dinosaurs with a mideval world, but the writing was not well done. I would not recommend this book.

complicated and well told tale
narrator is dry and dull, but the story is big enough to compensate. dinosaurs, big world building, deities, people who feel real.
