Worth it!

If you are looking for a complete audio Bible, I would highly recommend this one. What stands out here is that the narrators never sound like they are just reading words on a page. By the same token, they omit the dramatic florish that I personally do not care for when I want to hear Scripture in audio. If you are expecting James Earl Jones to come thundering out of the box, you might be in for a surprise. He does a great job in setting a calm tone and letting the rich sound of his voice do the work. Same thing for Jon Sherberg. He never falls into auto pilot and manages to keep you engaged the whole way. As usual, the parts, books and chapters are not listed in such a way that you can access them with the touch of a finger. The whole Bible is simply divided into 23 separate downloads. It would have been an easy 5 star rating if it had decent navigation.

Navigation Nightmare

Would be better if listed by bible books and not part numbers and separated into old and new testament

this is a books that I've tried to read

this is a book that I've tried to read about 20 or 30 times can never get through and being able to listen to it while I drive allowed me to read it and give my devotion to the book and to the word of the Lord and it makes me feel that I'm a more complete Christian just because the fact that I've been able to read and been able to listen to the direct words given to us by God

Poorly organized 🥴🤢🤮

Mr Jones does not disappoint in his narration.... amazing performance to me. I gave 1 ⭐️ for the book itself because there is no way to go to a index to narrow your search

Unlistenable

I'm giving up on this book for the following problems:
Audible app (Android) doesn't show titles of books or chapters from a traditional standpoint but rather shows an ambiguous numbering system. New Testament started somewhere in the upper hundreds, not on Matthew 1:1. Such a silly thing to overlook.
Worse than that, though, is the terrible manner in which James Earl Jones was directed and edited for this project. I was so excited to hear Darth Vader read me the Word...but instead I hear a sputtering, lip-smacking, sighing version of the reading. There are startling cuts from one reading session with a certain recording style to a dramatically different recording, and back again...often within a matter of seconds.
Finally, and this is on me for sure...I can't get past the KJV "thees" and "thous" and the rest of the cumbersome wording. I'm switching to a more contemporary book that, hopefully, is edited with the reverence and professionalism due this type of work.
Final note: I've not even attempted to listen to anything other than the first eleven chapters of Matthew. Maybe the Old Testament is better...but I'm not willing to spend any more time on this mess.

Reads too fast!

James Earl Jones almost sounds like he’s racing. I had to check the speed setting. You want to absorb a verse, drink it in, but the words are crammed into each other. A little slower with pauses would have been great. Setting the speed at .75 doesn’t work well. Disappointing.

Great Voices. Poor Divisions.

I love the voices fo Mr. Jones and Mr. Sherberg. My complaint is about the chapter divisions. It's impossible to know where to find specific portions without some hunting-n-pecking. That's tough to do at a red light.

Nice version

Very clear Annunciation is it do you understand no drama no big performance just reading which is exactly what I wanted I do still wish that instead of having the chapters numbered that there was a title as to which chapter starts within the chapter section let’s see if I wanted to go back to the book of James I can’t tell where it is the way this is numbered

This has been well read.

If you are looking for a great narration for the classical stories containing proverbial wisdom from scripture, this is it. The voice is great for it. It sounds clean and is comfortable to listen to.

i’m loving it! (but see caveats)

Beautifully narrated, with maybe a few technical glitches. I now love that it can be accessed in small easily downloadable bites.
Accessibility is a real problem, but much easier after I wrote my own table of contents that I keep as a text file on my ipad, which I always have anyway. it’s the best out there that I know of, overall. digital text or paper still much more suited to serious, organized study
