If you’re the average person in the developed world, you spend 70 percent of your waking hours at work. And if you’re the average person, you’re miserable for most of those hours. This is simply not an acceptable state of affairs for your one shot at life. No matter your station, you possess incredible unique powers. It’s a modern myth that hard work and hustle are the paths to success. Inside you is a soul. And once you unleash it fully into the domain of work, magic happens. Awakening the Buddha and the Badass inside you is a process that will disrupt the way you work.

Shetty grew up in a family where you could become one of three things - a doctor, a lawyer, or a failure. His family was convinced he had chosen option three: Instead of attending his college graduation ceremony, he headed to India to become a monk, to meditate every day for four to eight hours, and devote his life to helping others. After three years, one of his teachers told him that he would have more impact on the world if he left the monk’s path to share his experience and wisdom with others.

There is nothing more essential to our health and well-being than breathing. Yet, as a species, humans have lost the ability to breathe correctly, with grave consequences. Journalist James Nestor travels the world to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it. The answers aren’t found in pulmonology labs, as we might expect, but in the muddy digs of ancient burial sites, secret Soviet facilities, New Jersey choir schools, and the smoggy streets of São Paulo. Nestor tracks down men and women exploring the hidden science behind ancient breathing practices.

World-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck, in decades of research on achievement and success, has discovered a truly groundbreaking idea - the power of our mindset. Dweck explains why it's not just our abilities and talent that bring us success - but whether we approach them with a fixed or growth mindset. She makes clear why praising intelligence and ability doesn't foster self-esteem and lead to accomplishment but may actually jeopardise success.

Histoire
When Autobiography of a Yogi first appeared in 1946, it was acclaimed as a landmark work in its field. The New York Times hailed it as "a rare account". Newsweek pronounced it "fascinating". The San Francisco Chronicle declared, "Yogananda presents a convincing case for yoga, and those who 'came to scoff' may remain 'to pray." Today it is still one of the most widely read and respected books ever published on the wisdom of the East.
Description
What if everything we think we know about how the world works - our ideas of love, education, spirituality, work, happiness, and love - are based on brules (bullsh*t rules) that get passed from generation to generation and are long past their expiration date?
This book teaches you to think like some of the greatest nonconformist minds of our era, to question, challenge, hack, and create new rules for your life so you can define success on your own terms.
The Code of the Extraordinary Mind is a blueprint of laws to break us free from the shackles of ordinary life. It makes a case that everything we know about the world is mostly decided not by rational choice but instead by conditioning and habit. And thus most people live their lives based on limiting rules and outdated beliefs about pretty much everything - love, work, money, parenting, sex, health, and more - that they inherit and pass on from generation to generation.
But what if you could remove these outdated ideas and start anew? What would your life look like if you could forget the rules of the past and redefine what happiness, purpose, and success mean for you?
Not Just a Book but a Movement
Blending computational thinking, integral theory, modern spirituality, evolutionary biology, and humor, personal growth entrepreneur Vishen Lakhiani provides a revolutionary 10-point framework for understanding and enhancing the human self. He developed this framework based on his personal experiences, the five million people he's reached through Mindvalley, and 200 hours of interviews and questions posed to incredible minds, including Elon Musk, Richard Branson, Peter Diamandis, Ken Wilber, Dean Kamen, Arianna Huffington, Michael Beckwith, and other legendary leaders.
The 10 Laws of an Extraordinary Life
In a unique fusion of cutting-edge ideas, personal stories, irreverence, and his brilliant teaching style, Lakhiani reveals the 10 powerful laws that form a step-by-step process that you can apply to life to shed years of struggle and elevate yourself to exceptional new heights. This book challenges conventional ideas of relationships, goal setting, mindfulness, happiness, and meaning. Lakhiani combines computational thinking with personal growth to provide a powerful framework for recoding yourself and replacing old, limiting models that hold you back with new, empowering beliefs and behaviors that set you on the path toward an extraordinary life - a life of more happiness and achievement than you might have dared to dream possible.

Self indulgent
If you want to read a book that is more about the author than what he is teaching this is the one. If the word "I" were eliminated it would probably be 1/3 in length. Personal anecdotes are great to illustrate points but this felt more like a memoir than book on how to improve the mind. Many will love this book but I could not even finish. Prefer more useable content less stories.

Just a 10 hour advertisement for the $1000 program
What disappointed you about The Code of the Extraordinary Mind?
It's not truly a program or any sort of "help" book but is, instead, just an advertisement for the paid resources on the authors website. It's like a rap song. He spends the book saying how great and rich he is to gain some credibility to refer you to the paid programs on his website.
What could Vishen Lakhiani have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Offered some of the program, even a shortened version so I could learn something or try his ideas.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
It goes quickly, his voice is fine.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Code of the Extraordinary Mind?
Most of the anecdotal stories that seem to just be excuses to drop some names to impress the listener. Very little point in the constant stories of all the famous people he's met.
Any additional comments?
This is the most disappointing purchase I've made on Audible. I feel like I just spent the last 3 days in an Amway presentation.

Anything but Ordinary
Brace yourself for a workable concise approach to personal growth. The author covers common barriers to personal growth with true insight and impact. The methods are updated from a perspective of "the shoulders of giants". He has personally developed a workable largely logical system for intentional personal growth.
If you listen to/read this book you are well on the way to a kinder view of life and it's opportunities.
On the downside he coined a phrase that is meant to suggest personal strength. It is in my opinion similar to comedians using vulgarities for laughs. Unflappable connotes the message and was already in my Thesaurus.
There is a very clear and evident seduction to visit the website of his company for additional information. There you will be offered enrollment to costly seminars. The points made in the book should suffice for all but the most "uncertain travelers".

Don't Bother Wasting Your Time
A bulk of the book was filled with anecdotes in which he portrays himself as a failure or a computing nerd so that he could establish credibility in his "methods". I found the information provided to be coercive, repetitive, and uninformative. Definitely just a run-of-the-mill self-help book that tries to masquerade itself as something else.

So glad I took a chance on this!!
I bought this just by chance, since the title looked interesting. I had absolutely no knowledge of the author or any of his previous work.
WOW!!! I was absolutely blown away. This is one of the single greatest self improvement books I've ever read. It's one of the few books in general that I was actually SAD when it ended!!
Anything negative I could say about this book would be trite and trivial. Trust me, if you're looking to hack your life, this is a GREAT place to start!

Extraordinary on its on terms
This book summarizes the main concepts you might have already discovered on mindvalley, puts them into a meaningful context, adds the stories behind them and, most importantly, takes you by the hand and dives you deep into them. Great content, very good read, and really powerful ideas presented in a way easy to digest and keep you going on your way towards your end goals and in alignment with your own personal quest. In the audio book, there are some repetitions of the concepts, but this makes it easier for the reader to follow and to remember the wonderful ideas. Awesome work, I highly recommend this one!

At first, I thought the narrative was a bit egocentric, but as soon as the second chapter started, I knew I could get some good starting points from this book.

Easy to digest, very interesting, very powerful
The book provides very interesting ways of understanding things in life while also being easy to to digest and the small stories or examples in between keep the book more interesting to listen to. This book contains a lot of things that you might learn through other personal growth books while also presenting unique and powerful ideas that can be life changing. I recommend this book to anyone that is in some way interested in personal growth because from all of the self-development content I've consumed over the years this book is by far the best.

Too much of self marketing in this book
At best an average book. Author is trying to oversell his company, his events and himself. I heard it while running over a period of 10 days. Seems like i have wasted my time and money on this book

Different view on life.
Upgrading life systems! Enjoyed listening to it and getting the benefits from the app as well as the PDF! Definitely worth it. Will be re-listening soon.

Disappointing
Expected much more from this book. It’s quite egoistic and self-praising. Even by the fact that author is also a narrator. It’s full of cliches and things taken from other bestsellers. Not worth the time... at least for me
