A stunning psychological thriller that explores the true price of obsession....
Prison psychologist Frank Lundquist is astonished to see Miranda Greene walk into his office 15 years after they graduated from school as his incarcerated newest client. Though she doesn't remember him, Frank remembers every word Miranda ever spoke to him back when she was a beautiful, long-haired teenager. But why is Miranda, daughter of a local politician, serving hard time in a maximum-security prison for a brutal crime? And why does Frank, whose life is in the midst of unravelling after he lost his practice in a scandal, choose to forgo protocol and remain as her psychologist rather than admit he knows her?
One thing is clear: neither Miranda's past nor her present are free from dark secrets, and she is determined not to spend the rest of her life in jail. In turn, Frank becomes convinced that their reunion was fated and that he can save his own mangled future by saving Miranda's. As his obsession deepens and Miranda's extreme plan to escape fails, their renewed acquaintance unleashes a wildly risky chain of events, with dire consequences.
