The Covra seem to be gone, but Loralia's cryptic warning is still lingering with the men. As Ciyrs works on healing Ty and Vax and Lynx searches his dreams for Rain, all of the men know that the time is counting down on their ability to save all of the Light Ones. Without knowing what they were thinking or why they chose to lock the people of the settlement rather than killing them, however, they worry that they won't be able to release them from their binds in time.
Back at the compound the women are struggling to deal with not having their men around. When Bannack contacts them through Loralia's compact to ask for their help figuring out how to unlock the people, all of the women are thrilled to see their mates, but an emergency with Eden takes away their excitement. With everything happening, they don't remember that the new professor was meant to arrive, and when the shuttle appears and the professor steps out, they find themselves facing a new set of challenges.
