Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Description
Introducing Geralt the Witcher - revered and hated - who holds the line against the monsters plaguing humanity in the best-selling series that inspired the Witcher video games and a major Netflix show.
Geralt is a witcher, a man whose magic powers, enhanced by long training and a mysterious elixir, have made him a brilliant fighter and a merciless assassin. Yet he is no ordinary murderer: his targets are the multifarious monsters and vile fiends that ravage the land and attack the innocent. He roams the country seeking assignments, but gradually comes to realise that while some of his quarry are unremittingly vile, vicious grotesques, others are the victims of sin, evil or simple naivety.
In this collection of short stories, following the adventures of the hit collection The Last Wish, join Geralt as he battles monsters, demons and prejudices alike....

Superb!
This should be the second book in the novel series, but it does't show up as such in Audibles list.
It captures events after The Last Wish and before Blood of Elves.
Otherwise it's a fantastic story and an amazing performance by Peter Kenny.

The book is good, interresting and twisty story, well written. But the reading is great as well. Lots of effort in voice acting, i mean accents tones. It is awesome. Loved it, can only recommend it. (if you arent familiar with the Witcher series, these are small novels of a warrior fighting monsters and struggling in his life)

not the same as Netflix, but like this better.
Narrative was good, he give life to the characters, as to many do not. The storey it self is as it is with this author. Not hard to follow, you do not get everything served on a platter, but have to guess a little.

Loved it!!!
Finished in one sitting! The story is pretty interesting, but the main reason I liked it so much is a beautiful voice of Peter Kenny. The way he voices all the characters, the emotions and special accents, there are no two voices alike in the whole book, every one is a special snowflake. He did an excellent job, and I wish I'll stay with him until the end of the series, because since the first sound I will just not accept any other voice. Peter Kenny really loves what he is doing, he puts a bit of his soul in every word he says, in every sound he pronounces, and it is very noticeable. He experiences all the characters' emotions, and helps you to do the same. The embarrassment, the pride, the prejudice, all of it. Even if you don't like fantasy, please, search for other books voiced by him, it's that kind of thing that everyone should experience in their life. Thank you!

Ciri and Yen!
I like Geralt's strong sense of morality, and dark sense of humor. I liked seeing his relationship with Yennifer delevelop. I loved that we met Ciri in this, and how she and Geralt relate to each other has to be the high point of this book. That said, I really liked some stories better than others, to the point were a few really couldn't keep my interest Peter Kenny is a good narrator, he really makes these characters come alive, but the sort of Nordic accent he does for Geralt isn't to my taste at And someone must have told him about the Dan-Dee-lion/ Dandil-lion thing, because he doesn't do that anymore

A fantastic book. All the short stories are well written and interesting. Like the first book of short stories however, you probably should know a bit about "The Witcher" beforehand, as there are little in the way of explanation of lore and background.

Wonderful narration and audiobook
I have listened to my fair share of fantasy novels. I selected this one in large part because I was curious about the Netflix series. I came in with no expectations or knowledge of the series. The narrator did a variety of voices for the characters. I particularly enjoy this when narrators can pull this off and it was done wonderfully. I was wondering how it would all turn together with The Last Wish and I was also pleasantly surprised since sometimes a collection of short stories of a bigger story confuse rather than adding in understanding. But I feel more prepared for the actual first book in the series after listening to this!

Amazing Narrator
There is nothing else i can say about this book that hasn't already been said.
But i have to praise Mr Peter Kenny , he has really outdone himself this time , especially in the Story "Eternal Flame" he has knocked it completely out of the park!
This is worth buying for the narration alone!

Fantastic!
This audiobook was awesome, simple as that. Peter Kenny does voices fantastically and his pronunciation of the different and difficult names seemed amost easy. Yarpen Zigrin's Herald scene made me laugh out in public which triggered some weirded out looks. The stories were so smooth and the different characters and monsters were so distinct and interesting that I had to keep on listening. Will listen to more Sapkowski/Kenny. Can't wait actually!

Humans invading a mystical world
Welche Figur hat Ihnen am besten gefallen? Warum?
I especially liked the Dryad Queen. She is a powerful figure with an important message to the protagonist. Had a lot of fun with the changeling, too.
Hat dieses Hörbuch Sie emotional stark bewegt? Mussten Sie laut z.B. lachen, weinen, zweifeln, etc.?
At first I almost despaired at the dialects of the spoken words. Add unfamiliar names and I was having a hard time understanding the first story. But the more I heard, the more I got used to it the more I actually came to truly appreciate it.
It's a most intrigueing setting, humanity invading the last places and hideouts of the mystical races one remembers from faerie tales and mythology.

Grandios!
