Description

Geralt is a witcher, a man whose magic powers, enhanced by long training and a mysterious elixir, have made him a brilliant fighter and a merciless assassin.

Yet he is no ordinary murderer: his targets are the multifarious monsters and vile fiends that ravage the land and attack the innocent. He roams the country seeking assignments but gradually comes to realise that while some of his quarry are unremittingly vile, vicious grotesques, others are the victims of sin, evil or simple naivety.

In this collection of short stories following the adventures of the hit collection The Last Wish, join Geralt as he battles monsters, demons and prejudices alike....

Superb!

This should be the second book in the novel series, but it does't show up as such in Audibles list.
It captures events after The Last Wish and before Blood of Elves.

Otherwise it's a fantastic story and an amazing performance by Peter Kenny.

Way better than expected

If you could sum up Sword of Destiny in three words, what would they be?

Deep, expansive, and rich

What other book might you compare Sword of Destiny to and why?

Game of thrones. Many characters related to each other in different ways, adult themes, and moral ambiguity instead of black/white comparisons. Leads to some reflection while remaining to be fun and entertaining.

What about Peter Kenny’s performance did you like?

Wow! probably one of my favorite so far as far in this medium (of which I am a big fan). His range of accents, distinctive intonations and pitch make the characters come to life and easily distinguishable (a common problem for the medium).

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. definitely did not get bored and made time just to listen.

Any additional comments?

Great translation!

I was worried about the translation from polish as this can sometimes ruin a great book but I could not tell at any point that it was not originally written in English. No awkward or unclear translation.

Fantastic book and narrator

I just love the Witcher series so much, it's very fun to follow Geralt's adventures in the world Andrzej has created. And Peter Kenny was an amazing narrator, gave every character a soul and unique voice which made the whole listening experience better.

i read the book and i wanted to revisit it.

i just didn't like how the reader tried to make "girlish"/"womanish" voices, but the male voices were really nice, and his voice in general soothing.

Amazing

The narrator is brilliant. His performance brings the book to life as the first book was brilliant but was not an easy read.

Came from the games, stayed for the story!

Peter Kenny knocks another one out of the park. The Witcher is probably my favorite series now, honestly. Can't wait to keep listening.

Amazing Narrator

There is nothing else i can say about this book that hasn't already been said.
But i have to praise Mr Peter Kenny , he has really outdone himself this time , especially in the Story "Eternal Flame" he has knocked it completely out of the park!

This is worth buying for the narration alone!

Fantastic!

This audiobook was awesome, simple as that. Peter Kenny does voices fantastically and his pronunciation of the different and difficult names seemed amost easy.
Yarpen Zigrin's Herald scene made me laugh out in public which triggered some weirded out looks.
The stories were so smooth and the different characters and monsters were so distinct and interesting that I had to keep on listening.
Will listen to more Sapkowski/Kenny. Can't wait actually!

Simply outstanding!

Fantastic performance, fantastic story. Peter Kenny has outdone himself in this reading, improving further on his already great previous performance on The Last Wish.

Humans invading a mystical world

Welche Figur hat Ihnen am besten gefallen? Warum?

I especially liked the Dryad Queen. She is a powerful figure with an important message to the protagonist. Had a lot of fun with the changeling, too.

Hat dieses Hörbuch Sie emotional stark bewegt? Mussten Sie laut z.B. lachen, weinen, zweifeln, etc.?

At first I almost despaired at the dialects of the spoken words. Add unfamiliar names and I was having a hard time understanding the first story. But the more I heard, the more I got used to it the more I actually came to truly appreciate it.
It's a most intrigueing setting, humanity invading the last places and hideouts of the mystical races one remembers from faerie tales and mythology.

Grandios!
