Eric Michael Summerer
What begins with a sense that Michael's deceased grandfather might be inhabiting his body soon escalates to "slipping" into to the river of the dead. When Michael slips, he relives moments of his grandfather's life and tries to help him find peace. But each time he ventures into the river it's harder to come out again. Michael will have to depend on an unlikely group of friends to keep him from slipping...permanently. A penetrating twist on the classic ghost story, full of humor and insight about family relationships.

In Cathleen Davitt Bell’s Slipping, main character Michael finds, in the wake of his grandfather’s death, that he keeps slipping supernaturally back into his grandfather’s memories...learning more and more about a man he barely knew. But if he slips too far, he’ll end up gone for good....
Eric Michael Summerer has a precise sense of pacing and tone, and navigates the chilly waters of this hard-hitting story with panache, drawing out its deep undercurrents of emotion with ease. This compelling story about family, loss, and the lengths we’ll go to, sometimes, in order to help those we love find peace is a very special kind of ghost story, and packs a serious emotional wallop.
