Description

A virtual-reality novel from a time before virtual reality, Simulacron-3 is a prophetic tale of a future where nothing is as it appears to be.

Douglas Hall is part of a team that builds an artificial environment to simulate reality. This enables them to get public opinion polls without waiting for the opinions of people around them. But then something goes terribly wrong and his partners on the program start disappearing.

But is it a simulated disappearance, or is someone out to get them all? And what is the true nature of reality?

There Is No Spoon

Any additional comments?

Truly visionary projection of mind into the future, and the engrossing possibilities, way before Neo and Trinity. In a philosophical bent, we enter Plato's cave, and we get to struggle with the very real life puzzle of "what is real?" True, the story is a tad dated, but not too much, this isn't a one-trick pony kind of deal, and Simulacron-3 is a compelling listen. It is easy to imagine, while reading, what we would do with our own stumbling upon the evidence of this reality, and in truth, we already have stumbled upon such a concept (scientists are increasingly fessing up to the potential of a vast world hologram, or let's say it, the matrix). It is difficult to find good novels dealing with this question in any serious way, and Galouye tackles the conundrum powerfully. Art et Amour Toujours

A Great Story

Makes the 13th Floor seem like a simulacron of this book. Voice of the reader similar to actor in the movie. I was completely immersed.

Simulacron-3 is so Meta

The author considers everything when building his world(s) and supplies the reader with no shortage of philosophical baggage to think about when coming away from a read. The book really shines when the main character draws logical threads between the things that happen around him.

Große Klasse

Alles große Klasse. Toller Plot mit überraschenden Wendungen bis zuletzt. Einziger Wermutstropfen : Grauenhaftes amerikanisches Englisch. gut gesprochen, aber halt amerikanisch. Britisch klänge es nochmals besser!

Vorlage für viele Bücher und Filme

Würden Sie dieses Hörbuch einem Freund empfehlen? Wenn ja, was würden Sie ihm dazu sagen?

Ja. Gut gelesen.
