    Description

A former Navy SEAL, Cole Makani Hunter has returned home from a disastrous black ops mission without his best friend, his hearing, or the use of his right arm. So when his ex - commanding officer assigns him to an undercover mission at a rehab center for vets to discover who leaked sensitive military information to an enemy, he'd rather be anywhere but there. Almost immediately, Cole finds himself at odds with Annie Murray - a peace-loving ecotherapist whose dream is to open an animal sanctuary out of her home. While the two seemingly have nothing in common, their spirited arguments soon fuel a passion for each other.

But just as things begin to heat up between therapist and patient, dangerous complications arise. So does the past - and a shocking revelation that puts Cole and everything he now holds dear in the path of a murderous traitor.

    Great romantic suspense!

This audiobook was a surprise to me at how much I enjoyed it! The heroine is a quirky, Earth mother type who is working as a therapist at a rehab center for soldiers with PTSD. She also has a bunch of animals she takes care of who have been injured or abandoned. One of my favorite scenes is when she has to “go feed the babies” while the hero tags along and he realizes that it’s a bunch of baby skunks! The hero is really at the rehab center on assignment trying to find a traitor, but he attends the therapy sessions too. He starts to really fall for her, but she’s worried that because he’s a patient at the rehab center it would be unethical ( even though she doesn’t work with him ). Throw in a crazy stalker and the story was so entertaining I listened to it all day in order to finish it. Narration was very well done too.

A good start to a new series.

This review is a first for me… It's the first time that I've reviewed a book that I switched back and forth between listening to the audio version and reading the Kindle version. Whispersync really is pretty cool.

I loved this book – while I was reading it – so 5 stars for Dana Marton's writing; it's what I've come to expect of her books. Descriptive prose, a strong male lead and a strong female lead, although not someone who is physically strong.

I'm sorry to say that I didn't enjoy listening to this story very much. When I switched to audio my attention drifted from the book and I had to go back and read the part I'd just listened to. I can't really put my finger on it but I think I would have enjoyed this story more if the narrator had been male instead of female. I think the voice was almost too soothing. When reading the story, in my mind the story felt more suspenseful and I kind of fell in love with Cole. Hearing his words in a deep female voice just didn't really work for me that well. So, I have to give the narrator 3 stars.

I think the story starts out in kind of an unusual way – describing what happened to someone an hour before he died. I was a tiny bit confused at first but loved the way it ended up making sense later in the story. I also think that Dana did a great job of hiding the identity of the villain until she wanted us to know who it was.

The story had my heart pounding in places, breaking in others and ultimately brought it all together. Silent Threat was a thoroughly satisfying and enjoyable story to read. I'm happy to know that there will be another book in this series.

A review copy of the ebook was provided by the publisher via NetGalley but this did not influence my opinion or rating of the book.

Good book. Narrator did a decent job

    Solid writing.
Sadly though, the female character was fairly stagnant. There was little transformation in her beliefs or relationship as the book went on. Also, her Snow White persona came off as a little corny at times. I know many veterans. The facility in the book only had non-military personnel preaching to veterans on how to heal - that wouldn't happen in reality. I get where the author is going with the 'earthing' - ground healing - science. But the female character didn't quite fit in the role - She seemed like a novice in her field. The villain also had too much going on. He's a spy, he's conveniently obsessed with the female character, He has mother issues, he has all this time on his hands to stand in the corn fields for hours. Some of the action seemed unrealistic.

    Amazing Romantic Suspense

    Title: Silent Threat
    Author: Dana Marton
    Format: Audio
    Narrator: Sarah Naughton
Gerre: Romantic Suspense, Military (SEAL), Disability (Deaf)
    Standalone: Yes
Part of a Series: Book 1 of the Mission Recovery series
POV: Annie and Cole and the stalker
Steam Level: Toasty but not explicit
    5/5

It's been a while since I've read Dana Marton and I had forgotten how much I like her books. Unique with Cole's disability and a touch forbidden with Annie and Cole's relationship, Silent Threat was gripping, sucking me in from the start. The twists and turns of Silent Threat leads to a story of epic proportions. Nothing is as it seems. I loved Cole and Annie and how they interact. I also love that Cole is still a strong, alpha leader that the guys look up to despite his limitations. Tempted to go on a Dana Marton binge.

    Finding Each Other

Wasn't sure where going at first. Once got into it more developed. Two wounded souls that found each other to help heal together. Ready for the next book in the series.

Wounded hero has a happy ending

I love reading realistic military stories, not where they’re just hot hunks that come home whole. This told about a man that was injured fighting for our rights & freedoms and him dealing with the changes left to his body & learning new ways to cope. I loved the story of the eco therapy they tried and how she helped him thru “earthing” & being grounded to earth. I just recently started researching this thru a fiction book by that title & have started it myself before listening to this book.
This story was well written & I enjoyed the characters especially the rescue animals which I’ve done with dogs & horses for 30 years. The only thing for me is that there wasn’t enough detailed sex scenes in the book, a little too mild for my tastes.

    Captivating

It's my first Dana Marton novel and I loved it. The characters were interesting, and well developed enough that you felt they were friends. The storyline was captivating and I didn't want to stop once I began.
