The Christmas season was supposed to be about peace on earth. Trudy Jensen can't remember the last time she felt anything like it.
In the span of a few months, she's convinced her aging mother to swap Florida sunshine for rainy Oregon, sold one house, bought another, nursed an injury, and said yes to far too many church commitments. No wonder her heart feels frayed.
Somewhere in the chaos, she fears she's lost sight of the season's meaning—and lost track of her mysterious lifelong friend, the one who has appeared when she needed him most. Will he come again this Christmas, maybe as a Portland hipster in plaid and beard? Or will his voice find her in the midst of her hectic, too-full life?
As the holidays draw near, Trudy must rediscover the quiet miracle at the center of it all—and remember that the one whose birth she celebrates has never truly left her alone.
