    Description

London, 1819. Richard, Marquess of Devon, is satisfied with his ton marriage. His wife of five months, Lady Eugenia Devon, thought she was, too, until she found the book. Their marriage is one of respect and affection, with no messy entanglements such as love. Devon's upbringing impressed upon him that gentlemen slake their baser needs on a mistress, not their gently bred wives. However, once married, he was no longer comfortable bedding a woman other than Eugenia. When she stumbles onto a naughty book, she begins a campaign to change the rules. Lady Eugenia wants her very proper husband to fall in love with her. But her much changed and undeniably wicked behavior might inadvertently drive her confused husband to ponder the unthinkable - his perfect Lady has taken a lover. But the only man Eugenia wants is her husband. The book can bring sizzling desire to the marriage - or it might cause an explosion.

    Contains mature themes.

    horrible narration

What would have made Seducing the Marquess better?

This book needed a good narrator. She read this like a robot. There was no emotion or variation in reading. It was a monotone so it had no feeling.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

The ending in all regency romances is HEA, so no surprises here.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

She was so terrible I am not going to buy the next book. I have it in my wish list, but just deleted it.
This could have been a very good book, but the narrator ruined it.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Seducing the Marquess?

It was not a very long story, so no edits required.

    Any additional comments?

I really wish authors/producers would take time to listen to a narrator before choosing them. There are so many other options to having a bad narrator. It means that the series is lost to listeners.

    Worst narrater ever!

This was actually a pretty good book if you can get past the terrible narration. She was obviously reading from the book at times and put the wrong emphasis on many words. It’s hard to believe no one listened to her narration before it was for sale to us. It’s too bad cause she has a nice voice.

    Frustrating

The book was enjoyable but it just drug out entirely too long. I truly enjoyed the 'Ice Princess' but I wouldn't have waited so long to get my man in my bed, not if it meant getting to a great orgasm.

    Thinly plotted and trivial

I thought of dropping it several times. I rarely stop in the middle. Sometimes I skip to the end. Not sure why I slogged it out. There was literally no story. Over 7 hours of no story. I couldn’t quite believe it. Started out with a decent premise but really really repetitive and it never went beyond restating the premise over and over. Proper English lady marries proper English lord. Lady wants some hot sex with her own husband (oh my) but has been taught that such desires are unacceptable and freakish (should lie there and think of shopping). Man lusts after own wife (oh my) but thinks that such desires are unacceptable and freakish (should do his duty and beget heir with wife and have fun with a mistress). 7 plus hours later they find out they can both enjoy sex together and have an heir. That is literally it. One of the least interesting regency romances I’ve “read” (aka listened to) and I “read” them regularly. Not even worth borrowing on Audible Escape in my opinion (which is how I did it so at least I’m not annoyed about wasting a credit). Wondering if I should try another Callie Hutton or if they are all this unbelievable boring, thinly plotted and trivial. Performance not great either — weird pronunciations and breaths/pauses in awkward places within the sentences.

    Regency heat and humor

This is one of my favorite Callie Hutton Regency romances. Wonderful humor as Eugenia and Devon discover there is more to marriage than duty. This is a marvelously written comedy of errors, assumptions and startling discoveries with some sizzle thrown in.
