    Description

    Sound Effects!!!

    I listened to the audio book, all 12 hours. I thought Rob Groves did a great job narrating. I think this is the first romance audio book I have listened to that had...wait for it...SOUND EFFECTS!!!

    There was thunder, rain, wind, squeaky doors, simulated spanking noises, etc. Then some of the dialogue was humorous. Not necessarily in the haha funny type, but in the over the top grandiose verbiage kind of way.

    In addition to the sound effects and the dialogue, I was pleasantly surprised by how detailed and suspenseful the actual story turned out. When I first started reading about Malcolm and Connie's introduction, and subsequently Connie's plight, I had no expectations about the overall story.

    This book was about domestic discipline, and spanking. It was also about Egyptian treasures, curses, mystery, intrigue, and suspense. Every time I thought the story was winding down a new twist would be introduced. The ultimate twist was at the end and totally unexpected.

    This audio book carried me through a rainy weekend where everyone is experiencing self isolation. It took me to another place and I was able to put our current reality out of mind for a while. I give it 5 stars for all the reasons listed above.

    Steamy, with mystery, suspense, and sound effects!

    This was my first Maggie Carpenter's book. The Rough Gentleman, a Historical Romance, is entertaining, and sexy. Connie and Malcolm share an instant attraction/lust, and a sizzling hot chemistry. The storyline is sexy (steamy), fun, and filled with mystery and suspense. The supporting characters are intriguing. There is a few spanking scenes / discipline, between consenting adults, along the story. Rob Groves did a great job with the narration. All the voices were easy to distinguish. The narration includes some sound effects that are surprisingly fun and entertaining. Really, the spanking scenes are fun to listen to with these sound effects! The audio quality is impressive. I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

    A very steamy audiobook

    A very steamy audiobook. With a bit of mystery and comedy mixed with a few sound effects. I’ve have yet to be disappointed in any of Maggie Carpenter’s audiobooks. I highly recommend this audiobook.

    Panty wetting goodness

    Wow I loved this, though I felt like things happened a bit too fast. I'll definitely be listening again. I'm hoping that there is a book for the other couple.
    The narrative was quite good.

    Fun Listen!

    Maggie Carpenter has achieved the perfect balance between mystery, romance, erotic discipline, and steamy sex. The use of sound effects are really unique and I hope she uses them again in future stories. Rob Grove has some fun accents and is easy to listen to. I had trouble putting it down. Well worth the credit.

    Adorable

    A little crime mystery, a little romance, a little erotica, and a whole lot of CUTE! This book was just adorable. Even the spicy bits were just so endearing. I love the characters. The story is very good, and well narrated. I was enchanted.

    OH How I loved this book

    Intrigue and naughty all in one book. The mystery of the “who done it” mixed with the spicy romance of this Noval made it a fun and entertaining listen.

    Malcolm to the rescue!

    I asked to receive this free review Audible book and wrote this unbiased review. Hold on to your hats! Maggie Carpenter has written a story full of action, suspense, intrigue, mystery, Egyptian artifacts, curses, murder, false accusations, grief, joy, and blazing hot love scenes. So much of this story shows how many of the events in one's life are caused by the rippling effect of previous events and for some the effects are great and for others not so great. Connie is forced to be very strong in order to survive while on the run from false accusations. Malcolm comes to her aid. Every woman should have a man like him to protect and comfort her. This story includes spankings when Connie puts her life at risk. The author has great character and plot development. It may be just me but there were so many characters that I had a little trouble keeping them straight, but I managed. It was a book that I loved and hated and to put down.

    Rob Groves, the narrator, is a superb storyteller. He makes you feel the emotions that the characters are experiencing. He gives the characters distinctive voices. This is the first book that I have listened to that had sound effects and I must say that it added to the appeal of the story. I highly recommend this Audible book.
