In a powerful new vision Dr Brené Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability, and dispels the widely accepted myth that it's a weakness. She argues that, in truth, vulnerability is strength and when we shut ourselves off from vulnerability - from revealing our true selves - we distance ourselves from the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives.

Leadership is not about titles, status and power over people. Leaders are people who hold themselves accountable for recognising the potential in people and ideas and developing that potential. This is an audiobook for everyone who is ready to choose courage over comfort, make a difference and lead. When we dare to lead, we don't pretend to have the right answers; we stay curious and ask the right questions. We don't see power as finite and hoard it; we know that power becomes infinite when we share it and work to align authority and accountability.

Is. At first, Glennon assumed these words came to her from on high but soon she realised they had come to her from within. This was the voice she had buried beneath decades of numbing addictions and social conditioning. Glennon decided to let go of the world’s expectations of her and reclaim her true untamed self.

The relentless pursuit of high self-esteem has become a virtual religion - and a tyrannical one at that. Our ultracompetitive culture tells us we need to be constantly above average to feel good about ourselves, but there is always someone more attractive, successful, or intelligent than we are. And even when we do manage to grab hold of high self-esteem for a brief moment, we can't seem to keep it. Our sense of self-worth goes up and down like a ping-pong ball, rising and falling in lockstep with our latest success or failure.

Description
Random House presents the audiobook edition of Rising Strong, written and read by Brené Brown.
The physics of vulnerability is simple: if we are brave enough often enough, we will fall. This is a book about what it takes to get back up and how owning our stories of disappointment, failure and heartbreak gives us the power to write a daring new ending. Struggle can be our greatest call to courage and Rising Strong our clearest path to deeper meaning, wisdom and hope.

Important work
I now own five books by Brene Brown and each of them take me down when I read them. They bring hard truths to light and these are sometimes very hard to take. I thoroughly appreciate Brown's own vulnerability in her writing by sharing parts of her own story with us. She humanises a very human thing - learning about ourselves and course-correcting to live our best lives. It's hard. I feel exposed just reading her books and listening to her talks. Her ideas are useful in challenging and addressing the ugliness of our humanity yet humbling to emerge on the best side of our humanity. Brene Brown and others like her are doing important work. If there is anything we need more than ever in this age of machine-driven advancements and cold competition is to truly be and remain human with every uncertain step of life and still be able to have compassion for ourselves and others in the process.

Unrestrained recommendation for every human being
Amazing book for everyone who is seeking to understand him/herself (better), to understand others better, to heal your wounds and to live a more authentic life with integrity.
If you don't think you belong to this group as just mentioned, you should DEFINATELY read/listen to this book, and even more so then.
Big words, I know. Brene Browns is a story teller like no other and really shows the listener what it means to be vulnerable through sharing own and very personal stories.
It is a book to read/listen to like it was a novel as well as sitting down with a notebook and jotting down your learnings as if in a lecture.
Absolutely recommended. Will definitely listen to it again and also catch up on her other books.
