Extremely Weak

In my opinion the LitRPG genre has recently seen qualitative growth in content quality. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for this series. The overall premise is pretty weak with half-hazard execution. It simply lacks situational depth and has lack luster dialog.

It's almost as if the author lacks enough life experience to add color and flavor to the interactions between characters.

Underwhelming

Its worth mentioning I only finished 2 out of the 5 books before writing this review but I couldn't stand to listen to anymore of it so I have no intent of continuing this book any further. In short, I found the plot to be lacking. Its not uncommon to have a main character strung along by powerful antagonists now and then but this book literally feels like he is dancing to other people's whims and I find it frustrating and boring. The conflict and plot feels like I am watching a national treasure movie in that there are scripted times where the worst thing that could happen does and someone steps in at the exact right or wrong moment.

I could dismiss some of these issues potentially but as the books went on rather than ironing out my issues with the books they magnified. I didn't feel that the system and concept of this book was that interesting or unique and in my opinion it gets worse as it goes on rather than better.

I listen to a lot of LitRPG and I sadly have to say this is in my bottom 10% category as someone who has probably listened to 30-50 series at this point.

Lit-rific

I must say that I had a hard time at first, but as the story progressed and the background was revealed, I started to enjoy myself. I can't say that it's perfect, but I can say that I did have a hard time putting it down. Much like a child growing up or life as time passes, this series has been getting better as it grows and matures. looking forward to the next set of books..

Bad

I don’t think I’ve ever disliked a main character so much… The inconsistencies around his characterization cannot be covered by the umbrella of plot armors and plot holes. Still mind blown that I made it to book four hoping there would be some character development. I must be a glutton for punishment.

Plastic impossible to like MC becomes OP and kills everyone against him. The end.

Most of the time the book talks about power stats

As if playing a video game a large part of the book is devoted to pulling up a screen to look at how the super or mage stats have gone up but not in an intelligent or believable way, More like playing a video game than reading a book or adventure.

That’s the issue with the series’s as a whole trying to be everything while at the same time it a story without identity or soul. Frees like the only reason this book has Lit aspects shoved into it is because the author knew that it wasn’t good enough “Epic fantasy” to stand on its own. I would have respected the author more had they not tried to make this a fit all fantasy story.

The narration is mediocre paired with a disjointed story I can’t recommend this series unless you have credits to burn.

a great read

I have been a huge fan of lit RPGs for the last couple of years. this series has been amazing. the story line is good, the tempo is good and I did not see the ending of book five coming..... which is saying something from my point of view. I highly recommend if you are looking for a story to lose yourself in. at least 12 stars.
