    THIS AUDIOBOOK HELPS IMMEDIATELY…

I have had a much happier and more enjoyable relationship with my daughter (only child) since beginning to listen this audiobook and at time of writing I am only half way through. Listening Positive Parenting Solutions helps you and your kid/s to feel as though you are 'on the same side' and as though you are improving together rather than having to have power struggles all the time with one of you coming out the 'winner'.

The shortest message of the audiobook is to 'empower rather than discourage'... And I would have thought that I could have worked that out for myself and implemented it on a daily basis.... but this audiobook points out inevitable parental weaknesses and has helped me to enable and reinforce the "empower, don't discourage" approach ten fold. Most of all I want our child to have good self-esteem and problem-solving capabilities, and this audiobook will help us to give her those qualities.

I am not a regular audiobook reviewer but I thought this one was worth the effort as I am certain most families will benefit from listening it. At the beginning I only gave it four stars rather than five as - here and there - there are just a few things I don't entirely agree with but for the most part it's brilliant.

p.s. NARRATED IN A FANTASTIC WAY!

    REFRESHING

My wife wanted me to listen this audiobook that she heard about from a friend of hers. It sounded like a good concept from the title, but I was still in the mindset of giving punishments to try changing behavior.

When listening the auidobook, a lot of it made sense and some of it didn't. I disagreed and even objected when I first read about the “way to talk with your child” because of the way it was presented compared to my past experience being on the other end in a similar situation. This made more sense later as I continued listening though, and it is the way that it is done that matters.

Since starting to listen this audiobook, I have been trying to apply principles that I have learned from it as I see opportunities, and honestly, I have seen more positive results from its concepts than my previous practices.

I got more out of the audiobook than just helpful information on how to raise children. I believe a lot of these concepts can and should be applied in many areas of life with friends (for example) as well.

My final thoughts are that I believe all current parents, parents-to-be, teachers, and even managers should listen to this audiobook to help others be their best. It is a complete 180 from the way it seems that most children are raised since they are newborn, but is ultimately what each of us were likely striving for through giving punishments. What we are striving for is that we want our children to grow up properly, feeling loved and to have success in all areas of life. That is what this audiobook sets out to achieve, and although we all make mistakes and hopefully learn from them, I believe if everyone constantly tried applying these techniques in their daily lives, it truly would make our world a better place.

    Moving from theory to practice

I have quite a few positive parenting books, both audiobooks, paperback and kindle/ibooks. The common theme among positive parenting books is building and maintaining connection with your child through love and respect. Lisa Marshall has several good books (and audiobooks) on the subject. There are a couple things that sets this audiobook apart from the others. First, Lisa is extremely non-judgmental. When you listen this audiobook, you feel as if she has been there right along with you. Its also narrated so well that bring your imagination through the process. It looks like a good friend that has gone through something and is helping you learn what she has already figured out. The second thing is related to this. The audiobook gives suggestions, techniques, and discussion questions to work through that really help you move from theory to practice. Working through one's own issues is essential to be an effective parent, and FINALLY someone helps you achieve this. She helps you take action since your child is a newborn( the right way!), bringing him until 5/6 years old. Many of us who try to practice positive parenting often start too late.
I am so grateful for this audiobook. I have four little boys and they can be really challenging. This audiobook is really helping me get where I want to be. Thank you!

    LIFE-CHANGING

This audiobook is eveything I ever hoped for. I grew up in a household where I was constantly yelled at for discipline. As a child, I early on started yelling back at my parents and always hated it, wanting to stop and not knowing how. Then as a parent I saw myself yelling at my daughter, not knowing what to do. I texted a friend asking for a good recommendation on a parenting book and she immediately recommended this audiobook by Lisa Marshall. From there my life has completely changed. Within months I was able to go from yelling multiple times a day to yelling maybe once a month (and forgiving myself for the slip-ups!). I love parenting. I'm constantly connecting with my daughter and really seeing the joys of raising a child. I went from dreading parenting to enjoying being a stay-at-home mom. My daughter (at 2) can now begin to solve her own problems with gentle guidance. She pinpoints her emotions and is empathetic when I feel sad or frustrated as well. What I adore is that the audiobook is based on studies and real life cases, not just the author's opinion. As I studied Human Development in college, this really appeals to my science-minded mentality.

I am so thankful I was recommended this audiobook when my daughter was still very young. My whole family is more peaceful and happier. I cannot even express in words the difference this audiobook made in loving and caring for my child and in loving myself.

I only hope it can help your family as much as it helped mine.

    Respectful parenting theories and techniques!!!

This was a really good audiobook that provides a great introduction to positive, respectful parenting theories and techniques. After listening several other audiobooks on this topic, I was curious about this one as a friend strongly suggested it to me. If I had listen this audiobook first, I may have found many useful solutions yet.. There were good things I liked more and other things that I’m not pretty sure about, as I found some contrast with other audiobooks. But I’m not sure which one is right. (Surely this one is supported by strong references)

I like that this book is not written by a doctor. The author is simply a mom that made a deep research on the topic and read a bunch a books from experts putting them into practice and figured out what worked best for her family.

The author's style of writing makes it really easy to read and follow and the narrator does a good work with her narration style. It can be difficult to read some parenting books by “experts” that go into so much technical detail that it makes it feel like you're studying a collage textbook on child behavioral psychology and neurology, or they go off on long case studies and stories to demonstrate a point. This audiobook offers very straightforward and to the point advice that is nicely layed out in numbered and bulleted lists with the major points being displayed in bold text in the paragraph. It was also a very quick listen. I easily listen this audiobook in 3/4 hours.

Truly a guide to the essentials

If you are looking for positive parenting solutions, listen to this first and/or share with your spouse or friend who is about to become a parent.. this is the one. A quick, easy listening, an overview with lots of practical advice after each theoretical explanation, this audiobook gives a sense of inspiration and motivation rather than the complete overwhelm that can come along with trying to learn a new and more positive, connected way to parent than the way most of us were raised. This is one of those guide you want to start with—it’s aptly called “positive parenting solutions” because that’s what it is. Full of solutions! You’ll wrap your mind about what positive parenting is, why it’s so important, and you’ll learn to start with caring for and disciplining yourself and your parenting partnership if you’re in one, which is the #1 thing we all have to do for positive parenting to work.

    Highly recommend!!

    Excellent guide with indispensable advice

Excellent audiobook. I am always cautious about parenting audiobooks and some of their hardline recipes for perfect parenting, but this one is no such thing. In fact, I can say that this audiobook has helped me change my relationship with my young child literally overnight. After months reaching the end of my tether trying to employ all sorts of ‘behaviour managent’ techniques, Lisa Marshall led me to a sort of parenting epiphany. If you are willing to try to reprogramme our cultural conditioning about how to parent and follow the advice in this audiobook, the results can be astounding. I never thought I could have the more calm and communicative relationship with my child that I do now.

I really wish I had found this audiobook earlier.

FANTASTIC FOR PEOPLE WHO DON’T LIKE PARENTING BOOK

I’m leary of parenting books, but this one nails it. I struggled with finding the right link between expectations and compassion, and Lisa Marshall uses a fantastic mix of case study, psychology, and specific cases to walk parents through overcoming challenges at any age. I’m recommending this to everyone. The focus is on relationship and connectedness, and I’ve seen a big impact on the way my just-two-year-old and I interact. He’s really a great kid, but he’s a toddler and I’m imperfect as well, so having a sort of guide outside myself helps me to stay the course when I am exhausted and impatient, knowing that it’ll pay off to model the emotional management I want him to be able to model (genius, right? 🙄). Much of the audiobook is common sense simply put in a format that provides clarity and confidence to parents inundated with endless theories.

Good Listening. If I only would discover it before so to implement the part for babies…

    EXCELLENT BUNDLE WITH INDISPENSABLE ADVICE

Excellent audiobook by Lisa Marshall. Fabulous narration by Carol Grace Anderson!

INTERESTING LISTENING - MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND

It's a little preachy and you need to take everything it says with a grain of salt. It mentions many examplesand studies however does not list them specifically so you wonder where they really got their data from. However there are elements of the audiobook which do make a lot of sense and provides a different perspective to parenting and how your child behaves. Harsh discipline is only one way to go about it and it's interesting to read about alternatives. Ultimately as parent you need to decide what kind of parent you want to be and how to get the best results.

I don't believe there is ever only ONE way to do things and there are DIFFERENT SOLUTIONS(as this audiobook says) that work for different families. Just keep an open mind and be willing to try anything.

I started listening this audiobook when I had been on holiday and my 2 year old was acting up a lot, and my sister in law who was very well meaning put my son in timeout (with my consent). I had never administered that kind of punishment before and was interested in seeing how she did it as she's a mother of 3 generally well behaved kids. However, after doing it a few times while on holiday and then at home, I got the growing sense that a) it works just in some cases and b) it’s based on a child. My son looked at me differently, he ran to daddy instead of me and he was acting out MORE. I decided punishment might be something we do but not at this age and not in this manner.
Since listening the audiobook I've stopped yelling at my son and spent a lot more 1 on 1 concentrated time with him on a daily basis. I have always been a mom who loves to show physical affection to my son but I wasn't always willing to play with him, preferring to leave that to his dad. Since I started spending more time focusing just on him, I've noticed his behavior has MARKEDLY improved. There's definitely something to the philosophies in thisaudiobook which can help.
