Critiques

"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." ( AudioFile magazine)

If you're looking for the reading material...

Any additional comments?

I was confused about where to find the reading material that is referenced in these lessons, so I thought others might be, too. Here are the instructions from Audible to find them:

"You will be able to find the accompanying material 'PDF' link underneath the book title in the 'Library' section of the website. Please click on the following link to access the 'Library' section: http://www.audible.com/lib "

Hope that helps someone!

Great learning tool

I never get bored with this program. I've learned and retained more with this program than any other. I actually WANT TO KEEP GOING!

Need to rewrite script for lesson 9

Very helpful with lots of repetition. My only complaint is lesson 9, which sounds like an awkward date rape scene.

Limited Vocab/ Better With Frobose

Any additional comments?

I used to think that Pimsleur was the king of memory techniques.
I am now think that Frobose language programs like the Power Italian series has an even better memory technique, but that’s an open debate.
I have successfully used Pimsleur’s Spanish, French, and now Italian programs and I have to say that they really do work. And Pimsleur Italian will definitely teach you some Italian and make it stick. No easy task. Good for them.
However, Pimsleur has a real problem with limited vocabulary. They teach you in a box, and the box is small. No creativity, limited vocabulary. Their greatest asset is their memory technique.
I think if you were to combine Pimsleur Italian with Learn in Your Car Italian and definitely Power Italian you would have a winning combo.

This guy won’t take “no” for an answer

The lessons are good. They go a little too fast so I had to slow down the play back to .75 speed on my phone to grasp the words being said. The segment with the guy incessantly asking the woman out for a drink is a little bit creepy and actually made me uncomfortable. How do you say, “Leave me the $&@# alone!!” in Italian. LOL!

Otherwise it is a very good learning tool!

Looking forward to Milan in April 2019

Feeling confident in the understanding and pronounciation of many words, phrases and iterations. This will help with business and tourist interactions.

See PDF

This is an awesome course with repetitive learning strategies for learning a spoken language. Also, Unit Nine starts to delve into the reading pronunciations as well as spoken word. I use my iPhone as I drive, and was at a loss when they said there is a visual portion of the book. I called Audible and found out that I needed to go online to the Full Site and look at My Library for the View PDF link, in order to obtain the written units you need to see when doing the written tasks. Awesome! I am very happy with the quality of the verbal teaching, but even more pleased that I am beginning to learn some of the reading and writing methods.

Good conversational exposure

If I were a man looking to pick up an Italian woman and feed her lots of wine at the hotel I'd be all set!
Kidding aside, I like the form of this series for learning a language. It allows me to pick up the language easily and almost involuntarily with the constant re-introduction of lessons prior.
I'm only on the second lesson so I can't comment on how fluent I'll be once I've finished.
I definitely recommend.

Good

My only complaint is that occasionally I cannot decipher the correct pronunciation of a word. This is rare, though and I can usually figure it out after several repetitions
