A story I wish would never end
I am a huge fan of Barbara Kingsolver's work. As a social worker and a biologist, I find that her descriptions of the natural world inspire a mindful peace and her treatment of individual characters and the broader human condition both challenging and insightful.
I rarely write reviews. After finishing this two part series, I find myself feeling connected to these characters and sincerely wishing to know more about their story. Some of the broader themes explored in the series include immigration, racism and white privilege, Native Americans, Foster care and adoption--topics with which we continue to struggle.
This book is interesting and emotional. I will listen to it again and again.

Essential Reading for Adoptees & Their Families!
I love this story!
Wish I had read it 25 years ago, or 40 years ago if it had been written and available when I was young and struggling to define my identity as a brown kid with a single white adoptive mother.
Absolutely gorgeous story about adoption.

Wonderful Metaphors of Life

Heavenly Empathy
This book confirms my impression that Barbara Kingsolver is a real treasure. Her empathy for ...how do I say this?...people of meager privilege in a stratified society is reliable, illuminating, and welcome as a hug in hard times. Picking up the story of Turtle and Taylor, the story picks up speed and fascinating characters as it goes along. I also really appreciated CJ Critt's rendition of those characters.

What happen...
I loved Prodigal Summer ... it was a beautiful book beautifully narrated. I am having trouble listening to Pigs in Heaven because of the narrator. The narration is flat and uninteresting.

Sweet ending to Greer Family saga.
Another fine read by Kingsolver.
While a little predictable, author gives us a great history lesson on the Cherokee, while entertaining with a new batch of characters.

A perfect second novel.
I was so afraid to start this book thinking that Taylor and Turtle would be separated and the loving bond they have be broken. Definitely a masterpiece follow up with a caring end.
