Description
The captivating and unforgettable saga of the Dollanganger family continues in Petals On the Wind, the New York Times bestselling sequel to Flowers in the Attic and the inspiration behind the Lifetime original movie and “tortured love story” (Variety).
Forbidden love comes into full bloom. For three years they were kept hidden in the eaves of Foxworth Hall, their existence all but denied by a mother who schemed to inherit a fortune. For three years their fate was in the hands of their righteous, merciless grandmother. They had to stay strong…but in their hopeless world, Cathy and her brother, Christopher, discovered blossoming desires that tumbled into a powerful obsession. Now, with their frail sister, Carrie, they have broken free and scraped together enough for three bus tickets and a chance at a new life. The horrors of the attic are behind them…but they will carry its legacy of dark secrets forever.

Completed Dollanger Saga
The series finally available in audio form. Narrator sounded silly doing male voices and couldn’t decide how to pronounce Marquet. Still - my favorite book of the saga, so it is what it is.

I enjoyed the first book. This one not so much. But I toughened it out.

I returned it
Honestly loved the first book and wanted to see what was going to happen next. Got about 3 hours in and shit got even weirder than it already was. Hard pass I’ll just look up the spoilers somewhere

I had to force myself to finish
I'll start by saying the only positive thing about this book: the narrator , Joy Osmanzki, did a good job. Production of this was solid.
However, I'm not sure why anyone likes this story. Every single man who just looooves our beautiful, graceful, sexy, etc etc protagonist is so problematic, you find yourself actually wanting her to end up with her brother. Pedophilia, grooming, abuse, r*pe all abound from these "lovers" of Cathy's and does she ever try to save herself or resolve it? Of course not. While this could have been a cautionary tale, it instead reads as though, "Well, this is just how men are. Pick one."
I absolutely cannot stand Cathy, and I had to force myself to finish this book. Needless to say, I won't be reading the remaining 3 in the series. This was downright awful.

Narrator...
The Narrator needs speech lessons..
"ALWAS" (always). I literally cringed every time she said the word. This ISN'T the way the Dollenganger kids spoke before... The book was OK at best. It was just annoying......

I swear the girl loves everybody
Love the book. She lets her anger lead her (which, honestly, I can’t say I blame her on that part) and I think every choice she makes centers around that… except when she tries to get the professional life she wants.
