Description

Robbed of his chits and betrayed by one of his oldest contacts, Roak is now on a rampage across the galaxy to hunt the duplicitous scumbag down and exact some serious payback. Bishop is on the run, and Roak is right behind him.

System by system, planet by planet, contact by contact, Roak leaves no rock unturned and no lead unchecked. He beats answers out of those that dare help Bishop. He kills those that refuse to answer. Roak is waging war on the criminal grapevine, and no one is safe from his wrath.

But Roak soon finds out that while he is the galaxy's preeminent bounty hunter, it is now his turn to be hunted. And the hunter coming for him is a force from his past that he may not be able to escape!

Sadly fell in to an old troupe

I liked this series a lot but it sadly chose this book to fall in to an old troupe. I wish the author had just stuck eight the bounty hunting stories. Those were good.

One thing that kept this book from being a 2 and almost back to a four was a Roak lived up to his rep this time.

Paradox Slaughter

Roak doing what he does best. Tracking down the target, kicking butt and taking names. I loved every minute of it. I look forward to see where this series takes Roak and crew. Another great performance by the narrator. I received this audio book for free through Audiobook Boom for my unbiased review.

Roak making friends? Surely not.

This is another thrilling chapter in Roak's attempts to recover his stolen chits.

As always Jake Bible has created a cast of believable characters, and I especially liked Yellow Eyes who is a pretty unique addition to his cast list. Andrew Wehrlen, as always, does an exceptional job of narrating, separating the characters and keeping the pace of the story.

Like all Roak romps, there is a fair amount of action, mixed with great storyline, awesome settings and a fair dash of sarcasm from our intrepid cast.

I would like to thank the author/narrator for providing me a copy of this book, free of charge, in return for an unbiased review.

It’s like reading/listening to the tale of a wiseass Boba Fett

The series is great the whole created universe rivals that of Star Trek and Star Wars without a doubt. This particular tale of Roak has him seeking revenge. Roak always gets paid for his jobs, and he always gets his credits even if it’s from the cold dead hands of one who betrayed him. This time, there is no job. Roak is in business on his own for this one and burning through contacts like he never wants to be able to get any information ever again. Knowing Roak is now something that could cause your death. In this tale new characters are introduced and old ones develop into deeper beings or in some cases find themselves without any future at all. Great story and live the development of Roak as a being. Wonderful narration. All these tales can be read together for greater enjoyment or they stand well enough on their own as great stories as well. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

Once Again a great book

Anytime I get to hear that smart ass AI I know it is a going to be a good book. This was not a disappointment, and we find out more about Roak than we have before which is great. Adding the character Yellow Eyes was a huge plus and I would love to see this book turned into a TV Series. Heck, the whole series should be created so I can see the characters become more real.

Thanks for writing such a great book.

Roak Develops

The Roak series continues to be fun to listen to. Roak is a tough, though not invincible, character who is constantly in the midst of chaos. In this story, however, he learns that he may not be able to complete his mission, one of vengeance rather than seeking a bounty, without help. He is forced to do something he is loathe to do, rely on others.

The plot of this book has Roak traversing the galaxy more than any of the previous stories. Aside from the opening of the first book, he also takes his worst beating. But more importantly, his character undergoes some significant changes. First, he is out for revenge, a mission that doesn't pay well. He also confronts his past, which provides us with a few details about his younger years but opens up new lines of questions. The plot is strong, the dialogue alternates between terse and funny, and Roak grows as an individual. This series keeps getting better!

Andrew Wehrlen is definitely a top 10 narrator for me, and he delivers another solid performance. I often seek out his audiobooks, and have listened to 30+ titles read by him. He has a unique cadence at times, and that just adds to my enjoyment of his work.

Continued awesomeness

How can anyone not like Roak?

This is another homer in for Bible and Wehrlen’s narrative talents are spot on as usual.

Good job! Thanks
