“If you give all your life to the earth, the earth will give you a tomb; but if you give your life to Heaven, Heaven will give you a throne.” -Saint Ephrem the Syrian, 373 A.D.
There’s not enough ice cream, sex, money, praise, power, or entertainment to satisfy our eternal desire. Our desire persists beyond anything’s ability to outlast it. When imprisoned by every passionate impulse, we get habitually emptier and lonelier. Only Eternity Himself, the King of Kings, Jesus, can satisfy a desire that lasts forever. Desire, properly directed, propels us to life in Christ—now, here, and forever in Paradise…
This book is an excavation of long-forgotten spiritual treasures. They are gathered into 12 practical reflections that were first given to a men’s group, though their audience is universal. May they be for your edification and ultimate satisfaction. “For the kingdom of God is not food and drink but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 14:17)
