    Description

Don't fight for customers; let them fight over you!

Have you ever queued for a restaurant? Preordered something months in advance? Fought for tickets that sell out in a day? Had a hairdresser with a six-month waiting list? There are people who don't chase clients; clients chase them.

In a world of endless choices, why does this happen? Why do people queue up? Why do they pay more? Why will they book months in advance? Why are these people and products in such high demand? And how can you get a slice of that action?

In Oversubscribed, entrepreneur and best-selling author Daniel Priestley explains why and, most importantly, how. This book is a recipe for ensuring demand outstrips supply for your product or service, and you have scores of customers lining up to give you money.

Oversubscribed shows leaders, marketers, and entrepreneurs how they can get customers queuing up to use their services and products while competitors are forced to fight for business; it explains how to become oversubscribed, even in a crowded marketplace; it is full of practical tips alongside inspiring examples to alter our mind-sets and get us bursting with ideas.

It is written by a successful entrepreneur who's used these ideas to excel in the ventures he has launched.

Obnoxious Gimmick at End Ruins Book

The author includes an obnoxious, frustrating gimmick at the end of the book that ruins everything proceeds it. It goes something like this: “One of the chapters in this book is the most important chapter and has made me more money than anything else in my life. But I’m not gonna tell you which one it is. You have to go back through the whole book and try to figure it out for yourself”

    Uh, what??

Why on earth should I have to go hunt for the most important part of the book?

How will I even be able to recognize it without having implemented any of these tactics?

The reason I’m paying you is to learn from what you have done.

No doubt the author thought this was a brilliant tactic to get readers to re-read his book over and over and really think about each point. But the author misses the fact that most people don’t have time to do that and paid to learn which tactics were the most effective. Furthermore, how can a reader who’s never implemented any of these tactics be able to tell which one is the most effective simply by reading it? They can’t. That’s why they paid to learn from someone who has done it before.

The fact the author includes such a gimmick undermines his credibility and everything that came before. I’d be very hesitant to take any of his advice on how make customers happy.

Think how much better it would’ve been to simply say “if you get nothing else from this book here’s the most important chapter - chapter __. This one is made me the most money if you don’t focus on anything else focus on this first.”

Had the author done that I would’ve gone back and looked at that chapter and really tried my best to implement it. If it worked I would’ve had even more trust for the author and would’ve probably re-read the rest of the book as well recommended it to others.

The truth is it’s a pure gimmick. None of the chapters are the most important chapter. The author just wants to create a discussion point among people in an attempt to create buzz.

Of course if I’m wrong the author could simply respond here with the answer.

This book is full of insights, strategies and substance!

I am a little reluctant to leave a review for fear of spreading these insightful strategies to far in wide, so the world market is flooded by them.
This worthwhile read is a well delivered combination of insights and strategies to effectively draw in prospective customers.
This is not one of those successful business people who spend the whole book pumping themselves up, nor is it full of empty waffle about finding yourself.
I will be recommending this to business owners in my network.
Now it's time for me to implement!

An audible treasure box of fantastic ideas

Daniel has laid out a clear strategy and so clearly articulated the necessary components to deliver it.

It is rare to find such a detailed action plan in one book.

I can't say enough good about this book, if you are looking for 1 book to read to take your business to a new level, this is the ONE to choose.

Not dissatisfied but won't be recommending

A couple of interesting thoughts/suggestions but not enough of them to be truly compelling so won't be recommending.

    Wow. Exceptional.

I'm a serial entrpreneur (from the US) who has read/listened to hundreds of books about the topic over the past 15 years. More specifically, I'm in the digital marketing field and I'd say this book is spot on the cutting edge of that. I had no idea who Daniel Priestley was before downloading this audio book on a road trip. I'm now a big fan. The value of these principals to anybody with an idea/business/dream are exponential. Do yourself a favor and read/listen to it.

    Not for an intellectual

This book is closer to a Tony Robbins special than a Peter Drucker read. “Oversubscribed” is chalk full of cheesy one-liners and assumption based theories.

If you are a 19 year old frat guy this book would be perfect for you. If you are a modern day executive with any level of professional experience than save yourself 5 hours, $20 and several hundred “eye rolls” and skip this book.

Doesn’t line up with the story in the book!

Only had a few days to push through this book for a work discussion. I find that listening while I read helps me retain more. It was super clunky to have to pause the audio and figure out where the narrative picks up. Then later there would be a narrative on that missed section. The narrator did not recite the book as it is written. That really took away from the whole point of listening in the first place!

    Terrific and concise.

This book is immensely helpful to anyone planning to start their own business or improve their existing one. It delivers the core understanding of what business essentially is and how to set it up to be successful. It removes the veil and haze of mystery, making it much more realistic and attainable. And it performs all the better due to the brevity and to-the-point style of delivery. There are many books on this topic, but this title is one of the true gems.

Make good use of your allotted laps around the sun

What started out as another one of those "hot air" books, very quickly became a pragmatic, well balanced view on what's required to differentiate in a very saturated world.

A great read with a real toolbox to empower.

    Thanks

Great advice, but you didn't need a whole book

Great advice, but you didn't need a whole book for it.
Probably would have been sufficient to deliver a TED talk on the topic.
Still, the message is so important that reading the entire book will be a good use of your time.
    Highly recommend.

Basic Information with no real value

Disappointing. Just basic information like „delight your customers“ „be transparent about your capacity“ and „just be oversubscribed“ without real applicable know how.
