Bonne écoute !
Having grown up in a lighthouse, loneliness is all Isabelle Thornton has ever known - and all, she assumes, she ever will know. But when her lightkeeper father rescues a young man from the lake, her sheltered world is turned upside down.
Best-selling author Jody Hedlund's Out of the Storm is her first ever novella and introduces listeners to Beacons of Hope, a new series set in the 1800s amid the romance, history, and danger surrounding the Great Lakes lighthouses of Michigan.

I don't know what that was but it was definitely not what I signed up for :( So this is a short novella about Isabelle who lives an isolated life with her father until they rescue a guy from a shipwreck Henry .. and she has to care for him and their love will blossom the plot is nice enough .. except for the fact it was REALLY RUSHED !! .. if this is a novella it could've been about childhood friends and I would be ok with it .. but this was too fast for me .. the guy PROPOSES to the girl from the very first scene !! no .. just no .. The narration was fine, although she was somewhat robotic

It is a sweet story, and well told. I fell in love with all 3 main characters, which says a lot for a novella! I just notice an absence of God in several places that I feel He belongs. :/ The narrator did a fine job. I do very much love many of Jody Hedlund's newer books, especially the Orphan Train series. This is my first Beacon of Hope series read. I will continue with this series.
