Description
Her city is under siege.
The zombies are coming back.
And all Nona wants is a birthday party.
In many ways, Nona is like other people. She lives with her family, has a job at her local school, and loves walks on the beach and meeting new dogs. But Nona's not like other people. Six months ago she woke up in a stranger's body, and she's afraid she might have to give it back.
The whole city is falling to pieces. A monstrous blue sphere hangs on the horizon, ready to tear the planet apart. Blood of Eden forces have surrounded the last Cohort facility and wait for the Emperor Undying to come calling. Their leaders want Nona to be the weapon that will save them from the Nine Houses. Nona would prefer to live an ordinary life with the people she loves, with Pyrrha and Camilla and Palamedes, but she also knows that nothing lasts forever.
And each night, Nona dreams of a woman with a skull-painted face...

Great author/series but Nona is hard to follow
Love the characters but this one was just too hard for me to get into. Gideon the Ninth was epic and accessible. The sequel, Harrow, was a bit tougher but still possible to follow/sort out what was going on. After eagerly awaiting/pre-ordering Nona, I just found it really difficult to fit into the other stories for the most part. Still love the world that has been built, but hoping Alecto makes a bit more (or any) sense. There was too much to fill in here, in terms of technological/mythological underpinning. I’ve finished and I’m completely unsure what it was all about.

Needs more dogs
I am beyond pleased that Tasmyn Muir decided to give Nona her own full length story. Definitely worth the wait. Nona is bubbly and offers a beautiful, life-loving outlook on such a grim setting, which I think is uncommon for this genre and refreshing. Once again, Moira Quirk does an exceptional job of bringing to life not just the characters but also the tone as well, whether deeply sad or incredibly funny. And lastly, the plot tied my brain into a pretzel, which was nice.

Tough let down
After the slow drawn out mess that was 3/4s of the second book I really thought okay, that ending was good, now that all that drawn out stuff is out of the way this third book should really bring it home. I was wrong. The characters you’re interested in are gone, main characters are bums, and so damn annoying. Cool characters from the first book are neutered down into useless scrubs.
It’s frustratingly messy. You think it will make sense with more time, but when you get to the end you just think holy shit most of this book was unnecessary. So much whining and BS doesn’t amount to anything.
Sucks such a cool story had to go out like this.

Good overall but weak ending to a good series
It took a while to get going, but was far easier to follow than the last book. I enjoyed it overall. Although the ending itself was pretty weak, and felt like the author got tired of writing it at the 11th hour.

You WILL love Nona, and Nona will love you. Everything about this book is a wild ride and I loved every second of it.

Wildest yet
Every book in this series gets continuously more wild and insane. But the amazing characters keep me coming back every time!

Not great.
I'm gonna be honest. If Alecto isn't heads and shoulders above Gideon and Harrow, then I'll be exceptionally angry that I spent 18 hours listening to Nona.

Confusing but still great
I had to read a synopsis to fully make the connections at the end. I think the audio format makes it a bit more challenging to make those connections, because you can't just flip back and reread sections as easily. It was still a great listen, though!

Indeed, I do love nona.
Despite waiting for this book and building up the excitement for it, it delivered and then some. I love how each book shows the perspective of the main character, how that view affects the writing. It's also great to see more of the world, to have some questions answered and then to get new ones. Binged the whole thing and I don't regret it.
As for the narrator, Moira Quirk gave an amazing performance, got the audio book especially because of her. All the accents, flavor in noises and the acting. Honestly, I just want more. (But also I don't, because the way it is is just perfect.)
I'm not wordy, so I can't translate my excitement that well, but I can explain it like this. (TMI, probably) The whole experience, of the story and the narrator kicked the burnout and the depression so hard, that I feel my face alive again. Made some many expression, from that stupid smile, to laughter and crying. Can't wait for more... will wait, as long as I need to.

confusing plus repetetive
First of all: main plot is the same as book two, harrow has lost her memory, why and how is never explained.
the things happening are barely interesting and the last third loses any interest in making sense. nothing done is explained, the characters just talk in riddles no one understands. why Harrow is so important is never explained... she just is. also language wise the last third is horrible: repetitions upon repetitions, no variation. i liked book 1, was confused after book 2 and hoped this book would explain things. but no... nothing is explained, neither by what is said nor done. how so many people love this so much is a mystery to me... the one Star is for the Reader, who does a quite good job.

Protect Nona at all costs!
"You’re only boobs, hair, and talk, Crown,” said the guard.
“No,” said Crown. “I’m boobs and hair and talk and a hell of a sword hand."
If this quote won't make you want to read The Locked Tomb series then someone should fix your brain ♡💀
Tamsyn Muir and Moira Quirk should make a pact to always work together.

A step ahead again
Undoes some of the nonsense from book two, but becomes more confusing and pointless as a result

Book two all over again without the great ending
Once again, the main persona apparently has an immense power, but it doesn’t bring her anything since she lost her memory again, till in and about the last page. In between hardly anything happens and when it does, it is so confusing you have no clue of what is going on.
The stories of John about the beginning are very interesting and well narrated, so one star extra.

A weird captivating story come to life
Moira Quirk really breathes life into this audio book. Not that it would need that, there is already so much life in it (weird to say that when it's a about necromancers and when a pretty heavy portion of people are already dead). But the story continues weird and genius and relatable and epic in a fun way. Very fun way.
And of course there is noodle. Everyone loves noodle.
