After the deadly trick of the Wooden Horse and the destruction of Troy, the hero Aeneas sets sail with a small number of refugees to find a new homeland. Among those travelling with him are Nisus and Euryalus. Only boys when they flee their burning city, they are teens by the time they reach their destination. During their seven-year quest the two have trained to be warriors, and formed an unbreakable bond. Now, united by a desire to prove their bravery, the two friends decide to go on a daring night raid through a sleeping camp of hostile warriors.
This gripping tale from Virgil's Aeneid explores themes of friendship, loyalty, and self-sacrifice. Short, brutal and tragic, this story is perfect for reluctant or busy teen listeners, especially those studying Latin or Ancient History.
