Fast-moving, heart-stopping, thought-provoking. A humorous, earthy approach to Jesus' youth and ministry. The gospel story is fleshed out with enjoyable characters. John the Baptist is the most outrageously funny when he's in prison! All the good guys are part-time comics, even Jesus and God! Jesus is so touchable you feel like you're in the trenches with him. Zechariah, priest and John the Baptist's father, and his protege, Joseph of Arimathea, deftly knit the story together with their expanded believable roles. I dare not omit Sunflower, a smart, uppity, fiercely loyal donkey (featured on the front cover). You'll enjoy her contributions throughout the book. It's bound to make you laugh and cry.
