Description
Surviving the zombie apocalypse requires supplies—like booze, weapons, and toilet paper—in the second prequel to the Mountain Man series.
Living off the land and adapting to a changing environment takes a special individual with the unique skills, training, and determination necessary to survive. Gus Berry is not that individual. The former house painter barely made it out of Annapolis as its population underwent a violent transformation, leaving everyone he knew or loved dead—or undead.
Now, Gus needs food and booze, weapons and armor, clothing that fits, and above all, toilet paper, preferably two-ply. But getting his hands on any of these essentials requires the one thing he can’t face doing, and that’s leaving his modern mountain fortress and returning to Annapolis and the horrors that roam its streets in search of the living.
With winter looming, Gus must procure these much-needed supplies quickly, before the snow piles too high and blocks the roads. And that’s when he’ll face the greatest challenge of all: maintaining his sanity . . .

Gus takes a Dump
Loved all the other books in the series. However, if not for RC Bray I wouldn’t have made it as far as I did. Title should have been Gus takes a dump. Just bad. Don’t waste your credit.

A big letdown
This book almost has to be a joke? Enjoyed the previous books but this one spends an inordinate amount of time graphically explaining bowel movements. I’m no prude but this book and it’s content mirrors what the author strains so hard to describe. All puns intended.

Awful
I have loved the Mountain Man series but this book was just plain awful. We all know Gus is an alcoholic. But this book was nothing but drinking, hangovers, and voiding bowels. Period. Save your money. This book may turn you off the series as a whole.

Love this series but this was boring!
Extremely boring story line that never really grasped my attention. There were times when I'd listen for a full hour and have to rewind because it was difficult to pay attention to what was going on (due to how flat it was). RC Bray did an excellent job as always but the storyline just wasn't great. At the end, I couldn't believe it was over. I thought to myself, "Wow that's it?" I waited on this release for months and I'm sad to say that I'm very dissatisfied with the end result.
Gus has bad dreams then drinks and then goes to scavenge for food/supplies. That was the story, on repeat, over and over again.

Story? What Story?
Nothing happened. Just a lotta scrapping, lotta bowel movements. No story. Just survival. Blackmore has run out of ideas and phoned this one in. Very disappointing. I've enjoyed all the other stories.

loved it
So glad you wrote this. Mountain Man is one of my top three listens. R C Bray was outstanding as usual. He is also the narrator of my top three.

Gus Baby!!
If you're a Gus fan, don't pay attention to any negative reviews about this book. It is probably the best book in the whole series (IMO). It's all Gus from them early days. The author really fleshes him out in this one and fills in his back story on why Gus was drinking so much when we first met him in book 1.
This book had me laughing out load, a little scared in some parts (a first for this series), a feeling that I could relate to Gus just like an old friend.
Amazing job Keith and R.C.! I'm just sorry it ended so soon. I guess now would be a good time to read the free short story "The Hospital". It feels like after book 0 and book 0.5 is where the Hospital fits.

Great!
I've always found Blackmore's writing to be captivating and Bray really brings it home with his amazing voice talents. This book was a great bridge. I enjoyed having a few questions answered from the first prequel; it has also let a few linger, while creating a new character for me to wonder over. Now I want to listen to rest of the books, again!

I waited for this?
What a disappointment! Besides wasting tons 9f time on bowel movements, there is so much stupidity in the actions of Gus that it is insulting. Not even R.C. Bray could save this disaster.
Definitely returning this bowel movement of a book.

the weakest of all MM stories
uneventful and too focused on Gus' alcohol problem..the MM should have stopped after the first prequel, not a worthy ending for such an amazing series
