Description

Nichelle has everything she’s ever wanted in life: a successful loving boyfriend in Lucas and a growing career as a marketing executive. Lucas has all he’s ever wanted in Nichelle: true love. Donovan has lost everything and is trying to regain a foothold in the world. Ronnie has more than anyone could desire: beauty, brains, and success - but even when standing on top of the world there is always more. What happens when the desire for everything and the hunger of having nothing collide?

Four lives, four separate motives, one unbelievable outcome. Follow this twisting tale full of romance, action, suspense, and drama. Watch each person desperately try to reach their desires and discover why they are willing to sacrifice whatever it takes to answer one question: How far are you willing to go for Money, Power and Sex?

"Readers will find this book utterly impossible to put down as there is nothing predictable about Money, Power, & Sex. You'll instantly be sucked in, page after page, leaving you hanging at the end, and hungering for more." (Kim Heimbuch, The San Diego Book Review)

"Mr. Love has a way with words, using bold strokes of his pen and dark shadows hovering all around. This is not a soft romance, it is a gritty take on what happens when people want too much and lose focus on the important things. Highly, highly recommended for readers who want to truly feel a story, whether you like what is happening or not, you will be pulled into an eye-opening, and sometimes heart-wrenching world that may leave you feeling a little bruised." (Dianne Beth, Tome Tender book review)

"Sad, well-written, and suspenseful. The action kept me turning the pages. Overall, this tale is one that readers won't want to miss. The characters are only left with choices...choices that can drag them down or pull them back up.... I highly recommend this edgy read to readers everywhere." (Danielle Urban, AAMBC book review)

One of the best books I've listened to this year

This book was very well written. Held my attention the entire time. The narrator was a bit annoying at times with certain characters but good overall. The ending was disappointing only because I now have to wait for part two. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a love story with a twist.

Loved it!

I loved this book to the cute and now it has to be 1 of my favorite books! I can’t wait for part 2. The narrators voice was just a little annoying to begin with but after I kept listening and getting into the book my panties was wet the whole time.

Pleasant surprise once you got past the narration

Well done! I didn't like this audiobook when I started it but the author won me over with the soap opera-ish story . I disliked the stereotypical voice the narrator used for Nichelle and Veronica. It grated my nerves. I also felt that the characters were stereotypical and one-dimensional, but as the story developed, the characters seemed less black and white. I locked into the narrative and found myself quite engaged to the storytelling.

The story revolved around two female characters, Nichelle and Veronica and by extension the men in their lives. Nichelle and Veronica worked together and appeared to be friends, but it became readily apparent that it wasn't a genuine relationship. what each woman's priorities and what drives them. I started off feeling one way about the heroines, but by the end, I felt differently about them. I didn't necessarily like them but I understood Nichelle and Ronnie enough to have empathy.

I still don't think the author developed the characters well enough but the story was engrossing enough that when it ended, I immediately went to purchase audiobook 2 (which to my dismay, isn't available yet). I am hoping that Nichelle, Ronnie, Donovan and Lucas are more complex as people in book 2, but I will definitely be continuing with this series.

Good narration

I have very mixed feelings about this book. I listened to it on audio and I must say, the narration was the best part of the overall experience. Quiana Goodrunm did a convincing job at the different male and female voices. Even more, she was able to convey through her accent and diction the distinction between the different educational levels of the characters. I nearly forgot only one narrator was speaking.

The story itself, I had trouble with. It’s very difficult to connect with a book when there isn’t one single character I liked or had respect for.

At first, I loved Lucas. He was such a nice guy and didn’t deserve to be hurt the way he was, but as the story continued, I began to think that there was something fundamentally wrong with him. A successful, good looking man doesn’t pine away the way he did and then so easily take up with a woman he knew was not a good person. First, he loved Nichelle and then he thought Ronnie was the only one for him. Yet, on his way to Nichelle’s home, after a plea for help, he re-evaluates his feelings for her.

Nichelle did everything she could to make her life better. She’s educated, successful and finally removed herself from situations that could lead to trouble. Yet, she was so easily convinced to take Donovan back. Plus, the revelations about her character are far from noble.

Donovan was the bad guy. I accepted that. He was the boyfriend that should have been the antagonist. The one Nichelle tried to avoid. Instead she takes him back—a thief and murderer!

I don’t care for the message that the only way a woman can get anywhere in business is to sleep her way to the top. That being said, there are women who do that. But Ronnie didn’t have any redeeming qualities at all. She’s a schemer, a cheat, and the co-worker and friend anyone could be cursed to have. She’s so adamant not to have an emotional connection with a man but during a brief talk with herself she turns her whole game plan around and has fallen in love with Lucas. But her actions after her revelation prove she isn’t capable of love at all.

My favorite characters, and the only ones I loved, were Lucas’ parents. They were warm, protective and insightful.

What I did appreciate in the story was the perspective I got on how difficult it is to pull out of a certain lifestyle, no matter how hard one works. It takes a strong and determined person to better themselves. Some try to do it in what he thinks is the easy way - Donovan. Others. Like Nicelle, do it by proving themselves legitimately through career. Too bad her actions didn’t mimic her work ethic.

Great read

This book painted a very clear picture start to finish. You become familiar with the characters and can't wait to see what happens.
