Description

Kaely Quinn's talents as an FBI behavior analyst are impossible to ignore, no matter how unorthodox her methods. But when a reporter outs her as the daughter of an infamous serial killer, she's demoted to field agent and transferred to St. Louis.

When the same reporter who ruined her career claims to have received an anonymous poem predicting a string of murders, ending with Kaely's, the reporter's ulterior motives bring his claim into question. But when a body is found that fits the poem's predictions, the threat is undeniable, and the FBI sends Special Agent Noah Hunter to St. Louis.

Initially resentful of the assignment, Noah is surprised at how quickly his respect for Kaely grows, despite her oddities. But with a brazen serial killer who breaks all the normal patterns on the loose, Noah and Kaely are tested to their limits to catch the murderer before anyone else - including Kaely herself - is killed.

Could easily have been a 5 star book but...

I really enjoyed this book tremendously. I do have one gripe though - I did not know what a prominent part the Christian faith would play with the profiler. At every moment of crisis or bedtime the protagonist's religious beliefs and prayer came to the forefront. Not exactly what I look for in a murder/mystery/suspense/procedural.
Anyway , that aside I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of this book. This story takes off immediately and doesn't let up until the end. Kaeley Quinn is a profiler of serial killers. She grew up not knowing her father was one. She has a not quite by the book method of figuring out who done it and is either well respected or disdained by fellow workers in the FBI. There are some really good twists and a killer you won't see coming because the author leaves so many clue that could point to many different people.
Traci Odom does an excellent job narrating.
I recommend this book with reservations due to the abundance of Christianity which may be due to a problem with categorization.

Fantastic, Gripping, and Unpredictable

I LOVED this book. I was constantly changing my mind about who it was, and when I found out, I was of course wrong and shocked. I loved that the end had some nice twists that made me gasp. It's hard to keep my attention, but I was loathe to push pause and couldn't sleep until I'd finished this.

It was a bit dark. Not gory so much as creepy a bit because she is in the minds of killers, so for that I'd recommend it for older teens and up. I wasn't bothered by the Christian moments, but I am an active Christian. I think it's so fantastic, go ahead and listen and just skip ahead if those make you uncomfortable. It wasn't common, and I didn't find it distracting from the plot. It's so fast paced, you barely have time to breathe.

Bottom line: One of the BEST mysteries I've ever read. I can't wait for the next!

What a great story. Great big twists and tiny satisfying twists right to the last sentence.

Enjoyable!

I was impressed that this had a Christian undertone without being preachy. A breath of fresh air. I find it preferable to unnecessary sexual themes. I look forward to hearing another by this author.

Shameless Christian Plug...

Love the narration. Not a bad story. The main characters love of Jesus ruins what could have been a much better story. Just my opinion. I still listened all the way through.

Belongs in the Christian section

Started out interesting then went downhill fast. Full of clichés and sermons. Writer should stick to Christian romances.

Spends too much time talking about religion

I couldn't even finish it. characters were poorly developed and hard for me to connect with. The characters spent very little time solving the mystery and more time pushing some sort of religious agenda.
