À propos de ce contenu audio

Galleries of Stone introduces a world where magical mountains are entrusted to master sculptors like Freydolf. Necessity drives this recluse from the Statuary to find a new servant. The villagers thereabouts fear him - with good reason - but when people are poor, and homes are crowded, all it takes is a handful of coins to loosen family ties.

Tupper Meadowsweet isn’t the cleverest child, but he’s brave enough to follow Freydolf onto the gray mountain, where the Statuary’s living masterpieces hint at faraway lands, diverse races, unique customs, long histories, and danger.....

To put it simply, it's kind of a "The beauty and the beast" story with a father-son relationship that is instead developed between the two protagonists.
There is a bit of magic, a bit of mystery, but without much incidents/dangers/goals that would lead the story into something more interesting. It's just a boy doing daily chores in a giant cave dug in a mountain in the service of his master, a sculptor who makes magical statues. But not much happens, it's just daily life stuff in a fantastic setting.
Maybe more will happen in the next books, but I'm not sure I want to continue, this one made me doze off a little too much for my taste.
Narration is great but Travis Baldree seems to be talking at a slower pace than usual, I've had to listen at 1.1x speed for him to sound more like himself.

Nothing really happens.

A beautiful start to this series I have just finished listening to. It is so incredibly tender, paying so much attention to the characters and the bonds they form and letting that lead the story. I had a lovely time, and I'm so glad I looked up other works read by this narrator and found this.

A beautiful start
