Description

Seventeen-year-old tagger Saira Elian can handle anything...a mother who mysteriously disappears, a stranger who stalks her around London, and even the noble English Grandmother who kicked Saira and her mother out of the family. But when an old graffiti tag in a tube station transports Saira to the 19th Century and she comes face-to-face with Jack the Ripper, she realizes she needs help after all.

Saira meets Archer, a charming student who helps her blend in as much as a tall, modern American teen can in Victorian England. He reveals the existence of the Immortals: Time, Nature, Fate, War and Death, and explains to Saira that it is possible to move between centuries - if you are a Descendant of Time.

Saira finds unexpected friendships at a boarding school for Immortal Descendants and a complicated love with a young man from the past. But time is running out for her mother, and Saira must embrace her new identity as she hides from Archer a devastating secret about his future that may cost him his life.

So much creativity in this book

I love the creativity that went into making this book. It must have taken some serious charting and diagramming to get everything just right. This book was 4.5 stars for me.

I attempted to start this book a while back but for whatever reason wasn't feeling it, put it down and just kept skipping over it. I am so glad that I decided to pick it up again. This story is absolutely captivating. It kept me on my toes.

Saira and Archer's connection and love story transcends time and it was so interesting to watch how that would unfold. The characters were great. Besides Saira and Archer, I especially loved Ringo, Mr. Shaw, Sanda, and the twins, Adam and Ava.

Marking Time is book one of this series and the book can be read as a standalone. Although I'm sure there will be storyline carryover, everything from this specific story was resolved in this book. Since I liked these characters so much and had fun with the story, I have added the next book to my list to read soon.

I recommend Marking Time. I typically am not big on Young Adult because, if we are being honest, I love a good dose of sexy times in my books and I also am not big on teen angst or drama and like to be a bit more relatable with where the characters are in their lives. This book was well written and so action packed that I didn't even miss the adult times. There was still a romance and love story mixed in so that satisfied my need for romance just fine. Oh, and bonus points, this book is free on Amazon right now and has been for months.

Audible: I added the whispersync audible narration to this kindle book. I enjoyed the narrators voice and her pacing. The thing that bothered me is that Saira, the main character, is American and the narrator, who was English, did not use an American accent for Saira. Since this book took place mostly in England, the English accent for all of the other characters was perfect, but it didn't fit the main character. Also, I would have preferred if the narrator had a bit more deviation between her male and female voices.

4·5 Re-Read but still loved it stars!

🌟🌟🌟🌟·5 Re-Read but still loved it Stars

Phew! This was a relief, i read this book a few years ago and was worried about revisiting it, but Huzzah! I still loved this book.

This little cracker of a book can be found free on Kindle, and thats exactly how i found it last time, this time i listened to it.

Saira is a young girl that hasn't really had the best upbringing, moved around from pillar to post her mother disappears, nothing new, she does that for days or even weeks at a time, and Saira can look after herself.

As a freerunner Saira loves the freedom of the city, and often leaves her "tag" in places she has stopped at, unfortunately this time she gets caught by the cops, and with her mother not there, she gets shipped off to stay with her Grandmother in London, who isn't best pleased to see her, considering she threw Saira's mother out.

Meeting new people and travelling around London is a new experience for Saira, and being chased by a strange man calling her "Clocker" has her hiding in a tube station.
She notices an old "tag" there and puts her fingers on it to trace and admire it.......big mistake!

Turns out that Saira is a Clocker, someone who can travel through time, and she finds herself in 1888 and being chased by no other than Jack the Ripper, and she's sure she also spotted her mother at some point!

Finding her way back to present day she learns the family history, and also that things like Werewolves, Shifters and Seers exist!

Oh and she also meets Archer, who is a vampire!

For someone who is not a Paranormal fan i was truly engaged in this story, even though it had vampires and wolves in it, it didn't focus on the "magicky" part of it, if that makes sense.

It's like a Harry Potter meets Oliver Twist meets the White Chapel murders!

🎧🎧 Narrated by Gemma Barrett who is a new to me narrator.

Fantastic narration and such a good story, give it a try, it's free on Kindle, what have you got to lose?

Happy reading

Absolutely Amazing

This book was incredible! The world April White created is out of this world. (Pun intended). This book is so addictive. Once I started listening I just couldn't stop. Lost a lot of sleep but it was well worth it. Can't wait to listen to the next one in the series.

Mixed feelings about this one.

Solid writing, promising storyline, sidekick character development fairly good, world building quite good but confusing at times. There are parts that I wanted to skip therefore, were boring, unnecessary? Can't quite define. Minus stars are mostly for our heroine. I'd like to say she matured with story but she just stayed the same. And that same is more like 12 year old than 17. Than there's this great love between our 17? year old heroine and our 100 something old hero. To be honest, I expected author to convince me (show) how/why this happened but I fail to see why. Lust or falling in love based on looks and pheromones and perhaps some basic character traits is possible. But deep, true love? Sorry, not convinced. I will try next in series cause this one did manage to keep my interest although YA is generally not my piece of pie. If there's no growth in our heroine character though, it will be a shame cause storyline is really, really promising.

An amazing story

April White's books have been recommended to me a number of times, including by favorite authors. I even purchased a couple of her ebooks, and added them to my TBR list. In preparation for meeting the author at a signing event, I noticed that I could listen to Marking Time on Audible Escape, so I started listening.

Marking Time was amazing - I could barely put it down! The story and characters were well-developed and drew me in as I listened. The narrator did an amazing job of transporting me to this world with fantastical time travel and a growing cast of immortal beings. I loved the way we learned about this world through the eyes of a young woman, who had no idea she was other than a normal human. We were able to learn about the Immortal Descendants world along with Saira.

I enjoyed getting to know Saira, and the new friends she made along her journey. I found myself anticipating what trouble she would find herself in next, and how she would escape.

The end of this book brought sadness as well as hope, along with the knowledge that Saira faced additional trials in her continuing quest. Now I can't wait to read the next books in the series, and even other books by April White.

Unexpected Pleasurable Reading

I don't follow some time travel books well. This tells the story naturally. I enjoyed it!

Unique

As an audiobook it was a little hard to follow at times with all the time hopping to keep track of where she was. But it didn't take to long to figure out. The characters are well defined and easy to root for. Love Archer. great book boyfriend if I must say so myself. This story was truly unique and creative. A faithful telling of some history with some fun fiction thrown in to always keep me interested. I am glad I gave this a try and am off to purchase the next book in the series.

great book

I only wish Gemma Barrett had narrated the whole series instead just the first 3. She did a great job of narrating this series and I loved them all. I have read this series 3 times.

Different book she's reading from mine

I thought this book was amazing. I only wish the narrator was American to fit the character.

Also ich werde die Bücher also E-Books weiterlesen.

Tolles Zeitreise Jungerwachsenen\Jugendbuch
