With her mighty wings spread wide and Ardent Blade aflame, Saint Celestine is the living embodiment of the God-Emperor’s wrath. Her halo blazes like a star upon the smog-wreathed, blood-soaked battlefields of the 41st Millennium; its holy light leading the faithful to victory time and time again. As heretics and daemons tear at her flesh, she calls down fires of retribution from on high to smite the wicked and unrighteous. If she is to fall in battle, none should mourn as she is Celestine, the Living Saint, and death is her duty.

Description
An Adepta Sororitas novel.
In the wake of the war for Ophelia VII, Battle-Sister Evangeline of the Order of Our Martyred Lady embarks on a crusade into the darkness that lies beyond the Great Rift, seeking vengeance and revelation, but surviving the journey will only be the first and most simple test of her faith.
Listen to It Because: Delve into Imperium Nihilus with a tale of faith and fury that looks at the nature of the Adepta Sororitas and their place in the new Dark Imperium.
The Story: With the birth of the Cicatrix Maledictum the Imperium of Mankind suffers as never before. Conflict and corruption is rife on every front and precious little hope remains, save for those who hold to their faith when faced with destruction....
Denied a martyr’s death during the battle for Ophelia VII, Sister Evangeline of the Order of Our Martyred Lady is blessed with a new and grave duty: to embark on a pilgrimage beyond the Great Rift to recover a precious and powerful artefact - the Shield of Saint Katherine. Accompanied by the enigmatic Inquisitor Ravara, who seeks her own closure in the veiled regions beyond the Rift, Evangeline must find a way to bear the weight of this unasked-for destiny if she and her Sisters are to succeed in restoring a fragment of light to this new dark Imperium.

LGBTQ+ reoresentation in Warhammer!
Besides being a really fun warhammer adventure book, with appropriate amounts of "bolter porn" (ie: well described badassery), it's nice to see positive LGBTQ+ representation in a warhammer novel, instead of just being "deviant vampires" or "deviant slaanesh cultists" or even being seen as "not normal". Instead we have a scifi badass adventure story full of a very ethnically diverse characters with LGBTQ+ characters too in the main cast with all the same boons and flaws of any warhammer protagonist. I'd love to see more like this in the future. <3

Excellent storytelling
A great book! Characters struggle with realistic problems in realistic ways and drive the story forward incredibly well with great character progression. I would definitely recommend it.

It’s a decent read for a Sisters of Battle book
The story plays out like a rollercoaster. When it gets going, it flows well. Though there are several slow points in the book.

Predictable Story....not a good ending.
I really like WH40k books but this one was a struggle to finish! The repetitive way the say names like "Evagaline!" and "Ari!" it just started to get under my skin. The narrator's did a good job with what the had. This book just left me as hollow as the Thousand Sons..

Okay...Great and Meh
The singing was a big turn off. But the story was great. A fresh perspective on an inquisitor. Character development was good. The emperor loving supernatural faith was very present and fun at times. All in all a good listen; great at times, meh at others.

There are better stories
Struggled through this book. Definitely not something I should have listened to right after Eisenhorn and Ravenor series. Didn't like the Inquisitor right off the bat. Did not really care for any of the characters and the singing threw me off.

Solid
Love the beginning of the story with the sisters. Not s fan of the inquisitor or how the sister takes so long to develop as a strong character. Overall a solid story and great performance.

a good story about the warrior nuns
The story is written well, not only for Warhammer 40k standards. The narration is done by two speakers, which is a nice idea and works quite well, since most of the story is written from the perspective of two protagonists.
I really like the sound of their voices, they suite well the image of the characters in my head. The only real issue, and I mean real issue for me was, the pronouncing of the speaker reading Evangeline. She used a very strange, sometimes unnerving style to read. As if she was over-acting. When she speaks in a more natural manner because the tempo of the story is somewhat faster, it's gone. So I'd assume it's just a habbit of her. Which is really sad, because otherwise the audio book would've been much more pleasant to listen to.
But anyway, between the two of them a solid work.

Like a 12hour Mass, it needs faith to get through
I bought this audiobook because I've listend to most Warhammer 40/30k audiobooks and I was curious what they make of the Sororitas.
This was one of only a few books that I just couldn't finish. Therefore all of this concerns the first 8-9 hours of the book, because even after deleting and redownloading the book again for two times, because I just thought "I have to get through it, maybe it get's better in the end", I just had to capitulate.
Eight hours of completely twodimensional charakters talking and traveling through space while absolutely nothing happens really sparks some churchlike feelings. Like when you where young and had to go to Mass and you just couldn't belive how somebody would really sit here listening for hours to somebody reading from a horribly boring book.
