Description
Hello? Police? My husband and our children...they’re gone.
When Mel arrives at the holiday cottage in the Lake District, she expects to find the heating on and her husband, Luke, and the two children waiting for her. Maybe a bottle of wine open....
Instead, there is just a note on the side, saying they’ve gone out for a walk. But they aren’t back several hours later, and Mel knows something is wrong. Really wrong. Turned me off, too much abuse.
How could this author think a fictional book filled with child abuse, animal abuse, a marriage filled with emotional, horrible physical abuse involving children and a dog even adults is entertainment????? I was screaming " GROW A SET!" regarding the male main character. I wouldn't recommend but I did end up finishing. Just did not care for this one by R.H.

Hard to listen to as a mother
Definitely not what I was expecting. I had to pause during parts of the book and take a breath. As a mother it was hard to listen. The book was overall good and ended appropriately but I could have went without the abuse. I also spent a majority of the book hating the father who is weak and a sorry excuse for a father who cannot protect his children. Utterly disgusting!

Oh the twists
Did this go in a completely different direction than I thought it would. I really enjoyed this listen a lot. I even thought I had it all figured out. It was nothing what I thought. I recommend this to anyone that wants to hear a great story.

What a page turner!!
This book is action packed with twists and turns from start to finish - twists I never saw coming. The book contains some domestic violence scenes that may be difficult to read. Overall, an interesting story that kept me guessing and wanting to know what was going to happen next.

Interesting but predictable
not a bad listen but I felt there could have been more. The story seemed like it was condensed and glazed over areas that could have added so much more to the story.
