Histoire
In Everthing Is F*cked, Mark Manson turns his gaze from the inevitable flaws within each individual self to the endless calamities taking place in the world around us. Drawing from the pool of psychological research on these topics, as well as the timeless wisdom of philosophers such as Plato, Nietzsche, and Tom Waits, he dissects religion and politics and the uncomfortable ways they have come to resemble one another. He looks at our relationships with money, entertainment, and the internet, and how too much of a good thing can psychologically eat us alive.

For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Description
Best-selling author Mark Manson brings his signature no-nonsense wisdom back to the subject he started his career covering: relationships. Being with your partner may feel like rainbows and unicorns, but that doesn't mean you have a healthy, functioning relationship. Sure, we all need love...but love is not enough.
In Love Is Not Enough, Mark’s first Audible Original, you’ll follow five real people over the course of six months as they navigate f--ked up romantic situations, ranging from dating app addiction to marital affairs to absurd fantasies. At regular intervals, they check in with Mark, share their stories, and soak up some advice. As you listen to these candid, funny, and moving conversations, you’ll learn how to stand up for yourself when you feel the most vulnerable. You'll learn how our imaginations derail intimacy, how our deepest desires can lead us into trouble. You'll learn how to open yourself up, and you'll develop the courage to say and hear that necessary word, "no." You'll learn how to love. And you'll learn that love is not enough.

Great guide to healthy love
Such a great guide to building a healthy loving relationship. I could relate to all 5 totally different people love stories thanks to Mark who brings to light common patterns. So interesting and encouraging to see the evolution of these 5 people throughout the project. I particularly appreciated Marks comments and guidance. Endearing characters, laughs, tears, aha moments... Amazing audiobook!

Mark Manson laughs at animal abuse
In this book, Mark Manson laughs at animal abuse. I can get past him providing relationship guidance to a woman in a long term relationship with a married man in the context it is provided. What I can not get past, is Mark laughing at a woman having sex with her dog. Sex with an animal is abuse. What it is not, is funny. It is a felony in many states, as it should be in all of them.
Shame on Mark Manson. Shame on Audible.
Please do not spend your money on this book.

Upsetting and disappointing
Mark chose 5 cases out of thousands of relationship issues, and guess what he chose? He is actually counseling one woman on how to have a better relationship with her married affair partner of 3 yrs! I was appalled! Is that so common is his professional experience that he thinks the rest of us want to know how to have better relationships with our affair partners! I am still upset from reading and just returned the book

Not Mark’s best work
I love Mark Manson’s books but this one wasn’t his best. It was hard getting through this one. This book just consists of a bunch of therapy sessions between him and people struggle with relationships. It’s pain listening to the clients when they talk. I tried picking things out that I could relate to but the presentation of the information was the issue.

This should be a podcast
This is really a podcast type listen. Ok to listen if you're bored but skip if you're looking for a more substantial read/listen. I'm not sure why it's rated so high.

Keep doing what you're doing!!
I have been an avid Mason reader for a while now. Looking forward to the Will Smith book buddy... I know you're going to kill it!! He always keeps me engaged with the stories, philosophies, and ideas of how to look at things in a different perspective and that is something that is cherished and that is valuable to me. This new project "Love Is Not Enough" is something everybody should take a look at. People sometimes get stuck in these modes of thinking that end up hindering their ability to live fully and happy ("The chains of habit are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken"). So thank you Mark for inspiring me to be a better me. If I happen to see you in a bar someday... drinks are on me! Cheers!

Such an unpleasant book
Must be use the F word in every sentence? Do people actually talk this way? I don't want to be mean but most of the people he speaks to in the book are stuck in patterns of behavior that I don't believe they have any intention of changing. This is such a depressing book.

Helpful to hear the pitfalls of other people
Sometimes it is hard to self reflect on ways we may come up messy in a relationship, or the ways that we self sabotage from the one thing we want: to feel loved and accepted. Listening to the struggle of other's can help, as you can reflect on your experiences and see where you too may have fallen in a similar mind trap, all in the name of protecting yourself. The book is fun to listen to, though I felt the stories were very extreme and it was hard to relate to the people he interviewed. I was hoping to hear a story from a less dramatic person but I guess it is those stories that our media loves to highlight. Mark Mason has a very nonjudgmental approach to how he sits and listens, though he is assessing things, but still I appreciate how he narrates and engages with each person. It is a good listen.

Did not expect to like this book as much as I did
When I started listening to this audiobook I just did it cause I was bored and I always like learning about love and relationships. But the more the stories went on the more I really connected to parts of every person in this audio, never the whole story but parts of it. So by getting to know them more and more the more I felt connected to them and learned from them. Really enjoyed this book overall and I'll definitely listen to this again

Mark Manson is awesome!
This book was by far the best book I "read" in Audible. Mark Manson is generous, funny and smart and he gets it. He goes through the issues in a very fluent way that you don't even feel the time passing. I finished this book in less than a week, laughing and connecting with people and I didn't even realize that I came to it's end. Will definitely go and get all his other works.

Great and unique audio "book"
I would not say its a book, its more like listening to a conversation between a "dating/relation therapist" and their client. but it leads to very insightful conversation and blind-spots we might all have. Definitely worth a listen

Lack of content value and lack of audio quality
Not recommending this: Reasons:
1)Audio quality especially at phone calls very low and audio almost not understandable.
2) This audio book almost fully consists of recorded audio tapes recorded at psychological therapy talks of Mark Manson with his male and female clients who have severe issues with their current relationships. The problem with this audio book is that these topics are very specific to these clients and not really match what the lister might need to learn.
3) Only max 2 minutes at the end of the 7 chapters Mark Manson provides some valuable generic advice, which is helpful for everyone. So this adds up to 14 minutes of valuable content of more than 5 hours audio book.
This is not what I expected and not what I value.
Only providing 3 stars due to lack of content value and due to lack of audio quality

The book explore different elements required for a healthy relation within a variety of story lines that in one way or another will make you feel relate to them... It's enjoyable but maybe not the Author's work. A thumbs up!

I indulged myself in other people’s stories hoping
Tempting but not impactful. I came away from this book wanting to have a conversation with Mark, but actually now having listened to the book Maybe you should talk to someone by Lori Gottlieb. and this book has been so much more profound that the laughing about blocking a number or this kind of friends' advice has very little meaning and impact on me now.
