Snow. It was everywhere. It was all she could see for as far as her sight could reach. Snow speckled with blood splatters and muddled with ash and soot. Coal black eyes stared, aimlessly drifting from one tattered body to a severed limb, and to the next. Unfazed. Unmoved. Just cold. Small hands lifted, eyes shifting to look at shaking fingers and fresh red liquid seeping between fingertips, caked under bitten-down and torn fingernails. “Blood…”
The word was spoken on a single breath, the voice timid, childish, for it had come from a small, young girl who could stand no longer. Falling to her knees, the little girl let out a grunt as she pressed her face into the snow. It was cold, so cold it felt like it was burning away at her skin. But she was so tired, so cold already, that she didn’t notice the difference. She just wanted to sleep.
